Toonjie's AOS Review

Recommended Posts

As you head up the mountain, there is no need to turn in here, it's just a visitor's center and there is an entrance fee, the rainforest is free and there are facilities up the road:

A local roadside stand:

Loads of old structures on hikes:

Wow! Toonjie! Where have you been? Didn't realize you had more from your trip! Great pictures. How long did you stay before you came home?

I just noticed that you will be getting on the Mariner the day that we get off! Wish we could have done the B2B but just couldn't this year.

Been getting ready for our new little addition! Only 3 more days for the review, we came home on Thursday night. You'll have to look for us as you're getting off the Mariner, we'll be staying at the Radisson in Port Canaveral the night before, so we should be getting on as early as possible. Ours is the last cruise for the Mariner before it leaves for LA.

We'll be getting off first but I'll wave to you anyway! We're also staying at the Raddisson the night before our sailing' date=' too. You will absolutely have a ball on New Year's Eve![/size']

We were on the Mariner 2 years ago for NYE and it was great! We were on the pool deck for the countdown and a thrilling 30+ second blast on the ship's horn! We are big Disney people and usually stay over there, but this time we thought we'd hit the space center so the Radisson looked nice.

Wow! What an awesome review and pictures! Thanks for taking the time for writing the review, posting the pictures as well as answering all the questions!

I have a quick question if you don't mind. Between the Marriott Stellaris and the Marriott Isla Verde...which is our better option? We have previously stayed at the ESJ towers and really liked the area! My husabnd is concerned that there may not be much in walking distance around the Stellaris. Your opinion would be very helpful!

Many thanks in advance,

Thanks!!!

The Stellaris is the one in the Condado District with loads around it and is much nicer. The Courtyard Marriott is near the ESJ, but down farther away from things, it's nice, but no Stellaris. Check back at the beginning of this review for pics of the surrounding area and the Marriott.

Yes, we just got lucky, it could have been any of the 5 resorts. I usually started around $80 and moved up, but I was bidding on low season. ($110 was the accepted bid, with fees it was like $130 or so.) The only thing you can do is check the San Juan board sticky and Betterbidding.com to see what other people are getting for your date. They seem to run in spurts with people getting one hotel a lot and then another. The 3 most common lately are the Intercontinental, El San Juan and Marriott, I haven't heard much activity from the other ones lately.

We just got the Marriott San Juan Resort And Stellaris Casino for May 9, 2009 for $135. I thought that was a great deal and jumped on it! Thanks for the advice!

toonjie, how far in advance should one start the bidding process? Sailing on the AOS on 4/12/09. Currently have reservations at Marriott for $215 per night (gov rate), and suggestions.
