hi,

how much tips are we supposed to leave for the waiters in dinning halls? and cleaning people? txs

Question: What are the tipping guidelines for my cruise?

Answer: During your cruise, you will meet staff throughout the ship who provide you with excellent service. Many more crew support those who serve you directly. To save you the worry of who to tip and how much, Princess makes it easier for you to reward excellent service by automatically adding a discretionary Hotel and Dining charge of $11 USD for suites and mini-suites and $10.50 USD for all other staterooms per person per day (including children) to your shipboard account on a daily basis. This charge will be shared amongst those staff who help provide and support your cruise experience, including the wait staff, stateroom stewards, buffet stewards, galley staff, laundry staff and others.

Casino dealers and Lotus Spa personnel do not share in the Hotel and Dining charge as not all passengers utilize these services.

A 15% charge is automatically added to your bar charges and dining room wine account. This is shared amongst the beverage staff and their support staff, including cleaners and utility staff.

Enjoy!

You don't have to leave anything unless service has been beyond your expectations. The $10.50-$11/day/pp "auto tip" which is charged to your onboard account every day takes care of the dining waitstaff and cabin steward.

My Auto Tip is my main tip but I like to add a little something for my cabin steward and my server at dinner. I usually give each one $20 on top of the Auto Tip. That's just me and it certainly is not required. If my steward doesn't do a good job, they get nothing extra.

Surely, not another tipping thread. I am not getting into this Automatic Wage Subsidy issue again. All this tipping advice is contained in Princess catalogues.

Don't flame me, please, just being objective.:o

The OP asked the question and I answered with a cut `n paste from the Princess web site. No added information or opinion.

I share your fatigue with this issue and hope this thread ends here.

-hqtang22- There is a powerful research tool at the top of this thread. It is the "search this forum" button. A forum search would have given you more information and inflamed opinion about Princess's tipping policy/program than you would have ever wanted to know.

No flames, just a little explanation. A lot of people new to these boards haven't figured out the search function yet. I think it's nice that people who have been around a while answer their questions (even though it may have been answered 100's of times before). I was a newbie once and would have felt horrible if no one answered my questions or told me to use the Search feature and I didn't know how.;)
