HELP Tell the TA to have CCL call you direct and then you will talk about what catagory you are being upgraded to.. Actually, have the TA fax or email you the "USCG" request in writing also. hill6 Posted October 11, 2004 #5 Share Posted October 11, 2004 It sounds fishy to me. First off the Coast Guard would not have any of your personal information. That is why you fill out Fun Pass to meet Homeland Security rules.
Cruising89143 Posted October 12, 2004 #6 Share Posted October 12, 2004 I would question your TA again on this and if they stick to their story I would ask for him/her to connect with a three way call so that you, your TA and Carnival can discuss this all at once. I have never heard of this before.
ctcruisers2005 Posted October 12, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted October 12, 2004 I just really think the TA is trying to pull a fast one. We got a good deal on early booking and now they are trying to move us! We aleady got bumped off the VALOR due to a charter cruise :(
bthorn1108 Posted October 12, 2004 #8 Share Posted October 12, 2004 If you have cabin assignments, I would stand your ground and say "He** no, we won't go". If for some reason, which I doubt, the USCG does want your cabiin for a purpose, someone from higher up the Carnival food chain will get in touch with you. hstrybuf Posted October 12, 2004 #9 Share Posted October 12, 2004 I have never heard of the USCG making a request for a passenger to change cabins. I'd be interested to hear if your TA can come up with some solid proof or not. Sounds fishy for sure!

pnjkeith Posted October 12, 2004 #11 Share Posted October 12, 2004 What a crock. USCG doen't care where u are on the ship. Your TA is flaky. Cancel and bood direct with Carnival, or better yet call Carnival and ask them direct. 1 800 CARNIVAL

HeidiHo Posted October 12, 2004 #13 Share Posted October 12, 2004 Perhaps there is some sort of a Coast Guard group cruise on the same sailing and they want your cabins. I can't think of any other reason why the Coast Guard would care about your cabins. It does sound fishy.
cgresq Posted October 13, 2004 #14 Share Posted October 13, 2004 the USCG has no control over cabin assignments on any cruiseline except their own cutters believe me I know. John (cgresq) USCG retired
Legend Posted October 13, 2004 #15 Share Posted October 13, 2004 You're all such doubting Thomas'. Carnival is making changes to several cabins on the newer ships to add edditional beds to accommodate more people. You know there's very few quads and triples on these ships which makes it harder for families to book so they're adding beds to them.
Mama'sCruisin Posted October 13, 2004 #16 Share Posted October 13, 2004 Actually, the TA said the USCG was moving triple cabins for safety reasons. Being moved from 1 triple to another triple on the same deck. It breaks up a family with pre-assigned cabins. I don't know why. TA will not forward copy of the email from the USCG requesting the changes. The whole thing is very vague and frustrating. Surely, this must have affected other cruisers on this sailing: Carnival Conquest New Orleans April 16-24, 2005?

neverenufcruising Posted October 13, 2004 #18 Share Posted October 13, 2004 TA will not forward copy of the email from the USCG requesting the changes. The fact that the TA won't forward a copy of the email seems to raise even MORE suspicions. I would certainly pursue this and get Carnival involved as many have suggested. hstrybuf Posted October 13, 2004 #19 Share Posted October 13, 2004 Safety reasons??? Hmmm, so which cabin are you assigned to and which cabin would they move you to for "safety"? The TA really hasn't given you anything to go on. Have you tried contacting Carnival?
Mama'sCruisin Posted October 18, 2004 #20 Share Posted October 18, 2004 Yes. They will not speak to me. They have an "agreement" with the TA, who by the way, is not returning phone calls. Can we bump this TA and not have to pay their $75pp fee? We are NOT HAPPY with them. ps I called the Coast Guard. Operations never heard of such a thing. I left an email in the other dept (that deals with commerical vessels. 1 week=no return phone call.) HELP!
hill6 Posted October 18, 2004 #21 Share Posted October 18, 2004 I am assuming the $75 fee is your travel agent imposed fee. You can call Carnival or any other travel agent and have them take over handling your booking. Personally I would since the whole story sounds very fishy and I would not be entirely trusting of this agent. I think that $75 is a small price to pay for piece of mind.
