I have tired it but have give up because it is confusing and too hard to use. In the area of downloading photos, I click on the download icon and nothing happens. I see no security warning re: downloads. I also do not see the phot anwhere on the desktop client...Anyone to offer any help. It got so frustrating, I joined flickr.....Anyone there that could offer any help?? Rare pierces Posted June 12, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2008 If you want to link to your photos from Webshots, see below. If you want to download other people's photos for some reason, you have to install the Webshots client first. Go Here: http://www.webshots.com/samplers/ Linking From Webshots: Open the picture you want to post and click on the "Copy Code" icon. Choose your size (circle), then copy the address string in the "Direct link to image box (rectangle). Click on the "Insert image" icon on the CC editor. Paste the address string into the box and click OK. Voila! Dave
Rare pierces Posted June 12, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 12, 2008 To link from Flickr: Open the photo you want to link to and click on "All Sizes". Choose the size you want. Scroll down below the image and copy the string in the "2. Grab the photo's URL" box. Click on the "Insert image" icon on the CC editor. Paste the address string into the box and click OK. Again, the Voila! Flickr, as with most sites, doesn't support downloading free printable copies of member's photos. The internet has spawned a whole new book of copyright laws that are broken a million times a day. You could always view the photo as "LARGE" then right-click and "save picture as" but it will be a small file suitable only for screen wallpaper. If you want to download full-size photos to print and hang on a wall, unless you pay for them on a stock photo site or make arrangements with the owner, that's not legal. Chances of you being caught by the Art Police are slim to none, but not getting caught isn't the same as not being wrong. Dave

Rare pierces Posted June 12, 2008 #5 Share Posted June 12, 2008 I've installed the desktop client. I click the download link on the individual pic and nothing happens... Bob I'm not familiar enough with the client to be of much help. But I think it only works on albums you've been invited to for the reasons mentioned above. Maybe a regular Webshots user can chime in here? Dave
Cavatelli430 Posted September 9, 2008 #6 Share Posted September 9, 2008 Pierces, if you are around, I figured you may be able to answer this question for me. Does webshots allow you to order prints from other people's albums? The only thing I saw to do was download, but when I do that, it is a .wbz file and I can't open it (file format not found). Of course there are a few pics I missed while on Liberty, amazing, since I came home with 700+ photos! I was hoping to get copies of a few other photos for my scrapbook. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :) Their FAQ sheet has this to say: Can I use Webshots images outside of the Webshots Desktop software and website? No. You can't extract or print the Webshots images. They are all specially encoded to protect the copyright privileges of our professional photographers. Webshots images can only be used within the Webshots Desktop software and on our website. Webshots has purchased the rights to use these images within the Webshots program. We are not authorized to allow them to be used elsewhere. If you would like to use any of the images you will need to contact the photographer or company. There is a link or name under most of the images on our website. That said, I downloaded a .wbz file, changed the .wbz to .jpg and it opened up just fine.
