Congratulations all round.

As a parent of grown kids, I know the feeling of relief that their immediate future is settled. He will love it, but I hope he doesn't think it is all cocktails, snorkelling and towel animals. :p :p :p

Thanks Sarah...he is going in as an MT...I was an E.T.C, as was his dad and uncle. His other uncles are writers and stokers, and his step mum is the captain of Cairns...definately navy family.

Jen...bugger...will have to remind him NOT to make towel animals when on the grey boats.

Don, Lorraine will know better than me!! Nice to see you home Lorraine.

I think he is settling in OK. I get to visit in a month's time so I can see for myself.

Many happy returns of the day, Karen, and congratulations to the young man!

I'm feeling like family on this thread after visiting your home, sharing a meal there with Don, and cruising for a week with Anthony & Sarah.

Glad to hear the good news!

Gee, Kaz, you are definitely a Navy family (I was the first and only member of mine). I worked in recruiting before I was discharged and I used to advise a lot of people to look at the trades - a great area to get into. It's definitely changed since we were in, but still a career I would love my step-daughter to get into (time will tell).

Whoo Hoo! Mine too he has just finished recruit school after joining on Navy Day March 3rd....guess our cruising with him had an effect! Bit worried about the desire to do submarines though.

Congratulations to you both.

My boy comes home for first visit tonight!!! Almost like waiting for a cruise...only kidding.:p
