Samantha Brown and Carnival thursday

Just got off the Inspiration this morning - stayed in the suite next to the one Samantha was in. Between the Maitre d' (George the Greek) - the Assistant Maitre d' (Radu), the Food and Beverage Manager, and the Hotel Director - we were made to feel like royalty. I must say that in MANY Carnival sailings we have never experienced attention to detail and over the top service like we just experienced. We look forward to all of our cruises, but I must say we anxious to be back on the Inspiration!!! (even if the casino took our money, OK - I gave it to them... )

We were not offered a chance to carve ice sculptures or tour the kitchen during serving time - but that's OK!!

I have never seen the word SNARKY used as many times as I have on this thread... she was just trying to have a little FUN!! As stated before, we enjoyed the show.

I'll be watching this show today at 3:00 and weigh in later with my observations. :D

Me, too! I've read this entire thread, plus the one on RCI. Still haven't seen the show nor have I been on the Inspiration. Went to check the schedule and today (in one hour - CST) it will be re-played again. I believe this is the only time it will be shown for the next week. So, whoever missed it, now is your chance. Today, 2:00 CST, 3:00 EST.

... and nobody gets to tour the kitchen DURING serving hours either... :)

I found it interesting that in over 30 Carnival sailings we have never been extended an offer to dine at the Captain's Table. Granted, we would kindly decline if we were offered - but that's not the point. What I REALLY find interesting is that on our first Celebrity cruise the offer was extended to us on the second evening. We already had reservations in the specialty restaurant (Murano), thus we declined the offer.

I don't think she was in the kitchen during serving hours, just during prep time. I could be wrong about that. But keep in mind for all the comments you've made here, she is not just any guest, not even just any VIP guest. She had a camera man with her and they were filming for a Travel Channel show. She is going to be allowed a few special perks that no one else gets, in the spirit of stirring up interest for the potential future cruisers out there. Sitting at the Captain's table and talking to the various top dogs on the ship during "elegant night" (or whatever you want to call it) is another mouthpiece for the ship to draw interest.

Just like ChrissyBTX, I've read all the comments here and on the RCL Board about Samantha Brown's trip on the Inspiration and have to admit, I was ready to be disappointed in her show. Surprisingly, she didn't seem snarky to me at all, and I was looking for it! She covered a lot of the regular experiences we all have on the cruise and showed the ship in a good (albeit, bright) light. Yes, there was neon, and I saw the Coconut Monkey Heads, she seemed to enjoy the buffet, and Luis in Mexico was adorable and very kind to her. She just didn't want to be around all the in-and-out of the groups snorkeling and, instead, showed the far side of the island. She was in the ship's kitchen 15 minutes before the doors opened to diners.

Other pax greeted her and she seemed to take it in stride. When dining with the officers, she admitted she had too much wine and didn't remember everyone's names, I got the impression she was really enjoying herself. She showed a nice variety of activities on board including the Serenity Area, Piano Bar, Casino, and Spa.

Overall, I think it was a good show and made us want to take a quicky on the Inspiration - we're looking at our schedules to see if we could squeeze one in sometime in the next year. :) If we were newbies and had seen this show, we would definately want to try out a short cruise on the Inspiration.

I totally agree with you. I was expecting the worst. But, believe it or not, I thought it was a great show! I didn't see anything wrong with it at all. Altho, it would have been nice if they would have been aboard a newer, larger Carnival ship for advertising reasons. I honestly don't know the background behind this episode. I think there's more neon and glitz on the older ships, which I really don't care about either, but it won't stop me from cruising on them.

I'm also one that likes to get away from the crowds when I go to ports. I steer clear of Paradise Beach in Cozumel and all the touristy bars, ie Carlos & Charlies, Margaritaville's, etc. I like to go where the locals hang out and eat the local cuisine. Last trip I made to Cozumel (on Ecstasy) we rented a jeep and hung out on the east side where Samantha did. It was great and so pretty.

It would be nice if she did a show on the Dream at some point but I have a feeling she might do one on the RCL Oasis. That beach on the other side of Coz looked so beautiful and undisturbed!
