Cinqueterre Private Drivers

We are currently on the lookout for private drivers for the Cinqueterre. :eek: Does anyone have any info you could share as to what company you used and do you have the name of the driver that you really liked. We will be going in the later part of Oct.

We rented a car with another couple (Hlitner & wife) and went to Cinque Terre. The other couple travel and drive in Italy a lot, so our driver was experienced with driving in Italy. It was a lovely day, and we had time to stop by Pisa to see the leaning tower on the way back to the ship.

 

There are car rental offices in the terminal, which is within the port but about a mile from where our ship docked. The security around the ship make it very difficult to walk out of the area. We ended up taking a taxi for the short ride; there are free shuttle busses, but they were not running as early as we needed to go. If you will be in port on a Sunday, then the car rental offices are closed. Hank made a deal with Maxirent to open up just for us that Sunday morning, but we had to pay more for the rental to compensate for the favor.

Regarding the OP, you might want to try directly e-mailing Maxirent (a regional rental car company with an office in the port terminal). They can sometimes provide a driver with one of their cars. Just e-mail Francesco (their manager) at livorno@maxirent.com.

We went there in May with the ships excursion and am sorry we did not use rome in limo dot com as we did in Rome and as our friends did for Florence. This is an area where you need to have someone knowledgeable around you.
