Aplmac Posted August 26, 2008 #30 Share Posted August 26, 2008 Did you find out if that bar is closed or not? Although Sunniebgi hasn't come back to us on this matter I'm fairly sure it's closed. Next time I'm down that way remind me to take some pics to show y'all.
esless Posted August 26, 2008 #31 Share Posted August 26, 2008 Is there a place that is similar to what the Sugar Reef offered that you would suggest I spend the day. That sounded like the perfect venue for a great day that was on a beautiful stretch of beach.

That sounded like the perfect venue for a great day that was on a beautiful stretch of beach. Accra Beach/Rockley is still the same, whether that bar operates or not...with chairs and umbrellas still available.. Carib Beach Bar is about 1 mile further East along the coast, also on a nice beach -Worthing Beach. Lobster Alive and Boatyard are on Carlisle Bay just the other side of the main Bridgetown shopping center on a sweeping 2-mile curve of white sand many now consider to be one of the best beaches on the island! Conditions on Accra Beach at Rockley!
Sunniebgi Posted August 29, 2008 #33 Share Posted August 29, 2008 sorry for my tardiness in addressing the bar situation at Accra/Rockley Beach. Bar Ka'nai (spelling).. used to be Sugar Reef, is still open.. Friends were there for lunch on Sunday and enjoy the beach in the afternoon. (could have been "closed for holiday or renovation" when aplmac was there before) for a light snack, and a friendly bar lady, try De Rock Bar at the kiosk area by the LifeGuard stand and restroom area at Rockley beach as well. Tell Patricia, that Sunnie Sent you.. (you will not get a discount, but she is a friend of mine). Enjoy.
esless Posted September 23, 2008 #34 Share Posted September 23, 2008 Any update on Bar Ka'nai? Is it a nice place to spend the day?
Sunniebgi Posted September 24, 2008 #35 Share Posted September 24, 2008 The Bar is still open.. it's basically at the east end of the Rockely/Accra stretch of Beach. There isn't anything special, from what I can tell, except the ability to get a drink and a beach chair. But the beach and the sea to swim in at Rockely/Accra Beach is very nice. thatbloominplace Posted October 2, 2008 #38 Share Posted October 2, 2008 can't wait for our cruise in feb. to get back to accra beach. the beach has a real local flavor to it rather than resort. you just take it as it is, which is beautiful. we have stayed for weeklong stays in barbados and always choose this area. don't forget to go across the street to cheffette for the rotis. not the best in the world, but good, nonetheless. we are so happy that a family from barbados opened up a caribbean restaurant only 2 miles from our home in the suburbs of boston!. steve
