Hotel at Airport or near port

We are flying into New Orleans the evening before the cruise but got lousey flights as we are using FF miles for the tickets.

 

So we do not arrive until 10:30PM and barring any delays won't have our bags until 11PM.

 

Our question is should we just get a hotel near the airport and then travel straight to the port around lunch time? Or should we bite the bullet and get a hotel near the port?

 

Any suggestions? Oh, and any ideas on the taxi fares airport to port?

Save your money and stay at the airport- there is no reason to stay near the port. Several bargains available in the airport area compared to the costs staying in the Warehouse, CBD or FQ. Cab will be fixed at $28+++
