kwnancy Posted July 5, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2008 Can we purchase in advance? Or from the bartender? I read somewhere for an adult it's $45, is this correct?
MM1998 Posted July 5, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 5, 2008 Found this on the carnival website FAQ: What is the Fountain Fun Card?We will offer to all guests the option to purchase a "Fountain Fun Card" which will allow them unlimited soft drinks for the duration of the cruise at a one time purchase price (including gratuities). The "Fountain Fun Card" can be purchased at the casino, lobby and pool bar onboard the ship. In all locations where beverage service is offered, guests may receive a glass of the soft drink of their choice - one glass will be served at a time and only to the guest whose name appears on the card. The card cannot be used through room service. NOTE: A 15% gratuity will automatically be added on at the time of purchase of the Fountain Fun Card. I believe that the cost is $7.00 a day. Catrin Posted July 5, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 5, 2008 One hint, which is TRUE>>>> Do not purchase the Fountain Fun Card until AFTER you leave Port. If you purchase it while still in Florida, you get charged Florida Taxes!! We usually purchase ours for our kids after sailaway. Catrin

CEWayfarer Posted July 6, 2008 #13 Share Posted July 6, 2008 OK, now I'm confused... How many sodas do you actually have to drink to make the soda card pay for itself?
pauline664 Posted July 6, 2008 #14 Share Posted July 6, 2008 Bottom line is the convieance of the card IMHO, if you drink a lot of soda then to me the card is worth it i drink average of 3 a day so to me i think its good. However since i prefer Pepsi over Coke i will bring some Pepsu this trip and see how that works out . But just remember the card is one card per person so you mutiply that times the people in your party that are soda drinkers.
JLJS_NY Posted July 6, 2008 #15 Share Posted July 6, 2008 I have a question.... At what age is a "Child" expected to pay the "Adult" price?? I was considering getting the cards for my 13 & 15 yr old boys. At $4.50 it's a deal but at $6.00 I think I'll probably break even...

You have to wait until you are outside American waters.A can of soda runs just slightly over $2 a can with tip. If people only drink a couple of cans a day the card is not worth it. Also folks remember....In the Lido there is iced tea, lemonade and fruit juices for free.......;)

gliles Posted July 6, 2008 #21 Share Posted July 6, 2008 Every dollar always counts, but this is still weird! Why is it weird? Now I am confused. Weird that the tax applies in FL but not in international waters? Ok....weird that someone wants to save a few bucks? Not weird. We didn't know that and bought it before we sailed but DS didn't use it enough to make it worth it anyway. I found myself saying "get some soda, please for the love of God drink more soda" but the convenience was well worth it and at least he didn't feel as though he had to ask if he could get a soda. Im like you, If I can save a buck, better in my pocket than someone elses Party on Sister!!!! Thank you! Yes, I check my prices all the time too - I am one of those "wierd people" who call and get my cruise reduced by $30.00 pp! We bring soda on board for the adults - but getting a soda card for this kids is a special thing for them. We DO work hard and save our money to take our family on a cruise each year. It is all the $6 and $7 dollar savings that add up to the thousands we need for our vacation! Catrin
Lancezgrl Posted July 7, 2008 #25 Share Posted July 7, 2008 I bought a soda card the day after we set sail; it was $42. I bought just one card (adult) and shared w/ my DH. We were on the Pride and really no one cared that I had a soda in hand already when I'd go up to the bar for another one and gave that to my DH. Or on the way to the dining room, I'd stop at the bar get a soda, hand that to DH and while passing the 2nd bar I'd go get another one - no big deal. I saved a ton of money doing it that way - you're not supposed to share, but I did it anyway - you can always find a way. Only thing is you can't use the card for room service soda.
