trk_koa Posted July 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2008 We are going Auckland - Honolulu in April 2009 on Millennium. The second to last port is Hilo. We live in South Kona and would find it much more convenient to just get off in Hilo instead of schlepping back to the Big Island from Honolulu the next morning. The idea of being able to skip the airport hassle is compelling. Has anyone ever done this who can advise on how to arrange it? Do they even allow such a thing? I guess customs might be an issue. wrp96 Posted July 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 8, 2008 You would need to contact Celebrity for it to be arranged. The big issue in most US ports is whether or not it will violate the PVSA. But since you will board the ship in Auckland, no matter where you disembark in the USA there won't be any PVSA violations. You will go through immigration at your first US port of call, so if Celebrity can arrange a customs call for you then you should be able to disembark at Hilo. cruisequeen10 Posted July 8, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 8, 2008 Celebrity needs to know what you are doing. They might not let you, as there is no disembarking facilities at that port, only passengers getting off the day. Of course, you will have to schlepp all your luggage off with you.
