drinking age onboard

My brother turns 21 in March. I would love to take him and his girlfriend on a cruise for his birthday. We would have to go during their college spring break which is about a week before his birthday. Don't they allow 18-21 to consume beer and wine. Everyone would be 21 except for him and I don't want him to have a hard time if he wants a drink.

He won't be able to purchase alcohol (except beer & wine...with a parent's authorization), but he won't be stopped from drinking it. He just has to have someone else buy it for him. My daughter was 19 on our cruise last summer and she was never stopped from drinking alcohol, but she was stopped from purchasing anything other than beer or wine. Her SeaPass was marked to show that she is under 21...as will be your brother's SeaPass. Make sure he gets the permission to drink from his parents.

Something else...you said you want to take your brother and his girlfriend. Are you at least 25? Because if they are both under 21, they must be in a cabin with someone 25 yrs and over.

WOW! This response suprised me about age requirements on cabins, we are going on Monarch of the Seas in Dec and none of the 5 of us ladies going were asked about age. I hope this does not become a problem because the 2 youngest, 24 both I think are in one cabin. :)

Two 24 year olds are no problem. The rule is if anyone is UNDER 21, they must be in a cabin with someone 25+. The exception is for kids in cabins adjacent to, or across from their parents. Also, young marrieds are exempt, if they have proof of marriage.
