Question for Platinum Cruisers

Good to know now because they always had a VIP line outside the doors along with the Wedding party, Special Assistance needs and Zone 1, 2. and one other.

Fred

Thats exactly what happened to us. The ship was delayed in boarding due to customs for the crew and we waited outside with the wedding party and one other Platinum guest that we happen to meet on the line. I even approached the Carnival Rep and asked about the VIP Room, was told there wasn't any and went back to sit down outside. Only once inside did another Carnival Rep see our Platinum Card or something that made her tell us to go to the VIP Room. Once inside when the girls found out we had already done early check in they told us we didn't need to be there and to have a good cruise....

So quite honestly, I don't believe everyone there is aware of the VIP Room...Or, they didn't want us inside the dome and told us to wait outside!!!

One free gift, unless you say something but you two will get the free entry to the slots or black jack tournment. Wendy's name wasn't listed on the Casino list but she had the Platinum Card to prove it.

If you want a second free gift for the 2nd person, just call the Pursers Deck and they will send it the following night.

Fred

There is always two gifts if you are both Platinum.

Two slot entries. Two of everything except the evening hourderves

No laundry limit that I am aware of - we have placed several things from non-platinum guests in with ours. Never a problem or question.

Regarding "proof" for VIP embarkation, I would simply print your cruise history (Carnival.com) that show your previous 9 sailings.

Tom

Your electronic luggage tag, which you can print, should also state VIP. Just put one on your carry-on and you are all set!

When Carnival first rolled out the Platinum perks EACH person who was Platinum would received a gift (then the tote bags). Some time ago they switched to giving one per stateroom where a Platinum guest(s) was staying. Having said that, we have received TWO gifts perhaps 2-3 times out of the last ~10 sailings.

Like almost everything else - it varies (at least in our case)!!

Good point - though I do suggest (for anyone about to go Platinum) that they also make sure online that Carnival shows them with 9 sailings to their name.

Thank you all for your help.

We leave for Alaska on Tuesday and the Carnival website is undergoing maintenance all weekend. So far I have been unable to print my luggage tags and I didn't get any documents in the mail. I did print my cruise history for "proof".
No, Self assist is everyone, whether youre Platinum, VIP or not. When they call for Zones, Zones 1, 2 and 3 will be called at the same time. You will be Zone 1.

Fred
Actually this is not correct for some ships.

On all the ships we have done self assist on the last 4 alone were the
Victory, Holiday, Imagination and Legend....there was a PLATINUM self assist that went before the Regular Self Assist.

It was FABULOUS on the Legend. They had us meet at the Sports Bar at a certain time and then escorted us through the Casino ...into the Lobby area where hundreds of folks were standing in line to do the self assist....they got to watch us "self assist first'!! :D
Sounds good to me! I would be getting close.:D
I am still running my "campaign" for the Black Elite Card for anyone with 25 cruises (since that is the number that Carnival elected to use for the Milestone Rewards number).

On every cruise...on every comment card..this request is made.

Join the :comment card campaign:!!!!! :D

They had gone to just one beach bag per cabin...but now that they are doing the Thermos bottles...we are still getting one each. (3 and 4 per cruise)

We have given them away etc and still have 7 in the closet and will be getting 12 more by the end of the year.

I like the idea of just putting one in the cabin and then if more are wanted, simply go to the Purser's Desk to get an extra one.
I would not be "bold" enough to go to the front of the line to see the Maitre d'. On our recent Inspiration sailing we went there shortly before George (the Greek) was there, so we decided to come back about 20 minutes later. When we returned there must have been 50 people in the line (wrapped back around the atrium near the glass elevators). We were in line 30 minutes easy. Upon getting to the front of the line to see George, he went above and beyond the call of duty and placed us at a perfect table.

One thing that stood out (though did not tarnish our Platinum card one bit) was that the Purser was OUT of the MILESTONES REWARDS stickers for our Platinum cards. Not a biggie by any means - though it then appeared that we might have "only" had 10 Carnival cruises under our belt rather than 25+ LOL

Many of the staff, when you present your Platinum card to them, will ask how many Carnival sailings you have been on. Always a good conversation starter.

Tom
Being "out of Milestone Stickers" should no longer be an issue, since on our last 3 cruises...they have "printed" the insignia on the card instead of a sticker. Of course, sometimes they have forgotten and we had to go to the Purser's desk to get the Milestone Platinum card printed.

I still have to laugh about the color of the cards...because they really do look "silver" and not "Platinum".

Kids being kids have teased both our boys about their "silver" card ... because the kids doing the teasing had GOLD cards.

Imagine the shock when our oldest son asked them...can you read PLATINUM?

(especially when they find out the youngest's "silver" card represents 20+ cruises)

On my last cruise I traveled with a friend who is also Platinum. We asked the steward for the other thermos because we don't live together. If we were family we would not have bothered because how many times are you really going to use a thermos. I hate saying any thing bad about a gift but I also hope this changes soon. I wish they had a "menu" for gifts at different levels of times cruising. They already have so much carnival logo items it would not be hard to do. I am sure those that are just now turning platinum would like the bag. I have several and use them a lot. I use one as my "nursing" bag to take to work and have several in the car that I use as my "green" bags when shopping. Also the treats sent to the room. I don't eat any thing off the seafood plate but would love chocolate covered strawberries. Those are so good.

Really? We must just be in the wrong place at the wrong time...

6/30/2008 Carnival Inspiration
6/19/2008 Carnival Sensation
5/22/2008 Carnival Sensation
4/5/2008 Carnival Glory

For all of the above (recent) cruises we had stickers... with the exception of the Inspiration, where the purser told me "sorry, we are out of stickers" and never mentioned anything about a new type of card...

I agree - the thermos, to us at least, is of very limited use. We have given them all away. The bag, though we ended up with TOO MANY, was nice. It would be nice to have a choice... something to appeal to a broader range of people.

Ok, my next cruise is going to be my Platinum....Sept 14th on the legend, but it wont be my husbands....It is his 9th.....

i snuck and took an "all girls cruise..."....LOL so i am one up on him.

Now, the room is booked in his name.........are they going to acknowledge my platinum status?

How does that work when only one person in the room is platinum????

Thanks!@

Here is a picture of the "printed" Milestone Rewards Card.

Please excuse the hole in the insignia...that is where they punched it to put it on the lanyard.

You will both get the VIP Check In and Debarkation. His Gold card will be with you Platinum card.

You will get the individual perks like the free Slots entry...he will not.

You will get the stationary...he will not.

He will get to tender with you if you need to get to Belize early...just flash the card and say "he is with me". (since he is in your cabin)

Whether you share the canapes and petit fours is completely up to you! ;)

And you might allow him to sneak some of his clothes in your free laundry bag....if you think he has been really good!! :D

Enjoy the Legend...we LOVED it in May.

I am sad to say that in all the years of cruising on all these ships....I don't remember one single "decor". Perhaps it is the "condition" I am in while cruising.

Seriously, it was a pretty ship (the best I can remember). It looked just like the Miracle, Pride and Spirit to me....only different colors I guess. It is my FAVORITE class of ship!!

Hubby really enjoyed the sushi every afternoon. So (if you are into free sushi) that would be something not to be missed.

If you do karaoke and Rozwin is still onboard....tell him his Cruise Mom said hi!!
He is moving to the Fantasy in October....and I don't know how much longer he was going to be on after May. He is fantastic!!

We had the same cabin that we had on the Pride. (4194) which is a 5A (partially obstructed) But it was a good size cabin for the 4 of us.

If you like Cosmos...they have an ice "thingy" that they pour it through one afternoon in the Atrium and sell them for $5.25 instead of $6.50. I enjoyed that....which is probably why I don't remember the decor! :D

Have a great cruise!!

Thanks - very interesting. WHY can't Carnival get the same thing in all of their ships at the same time??? Especially something as "simple" as a box of plastic cards!!!
