 Sailing the Sky next Friday - and had a tipping question. If they escort you to your stateroom (we have a balcony) do you tip your escort? (if so .. suggested amount?) Also, at the pier is there a representative who takes your bag? This is our first NCL cruise, and each of the cruise lines I've sailed with in the past do things a little differently at the pier. Do you tip them and if so do you use airport tipping protocol? Also, are taxi's easy to get post cruise or do you need to reserve in advance?

We tipped the escort $1.

We tip the porters at the pier $1/bag + $1 (so two bags = $3).

Can't help you with taxis, since we drive; however, it appears there is usually a line up.

Our escort to our bags to our balcony and since we were wayyyy aft, we tipped him $1.00 per bag which in our case, was about 4 bags but we tipped him $5.00. Hope that helps!

So regarding this escort thing .... is that just to show you to your room? Or are they bringing your "checked" baggage that we would typically leave on the dock to be delivered later on? (sorry .. this is like really new for us!)

There were only two of us...so we had one carry on that the escort wheeled for us. Our larger suitcase was checked and delivered later by the porters (or stewards), they just leave the bags outside your door, no need to tip them.

Don't worry. Soon you'll be a pro.:)

They usually just bring whatever bags you have with you. I don't like giving my bags to the porters so I keep mine with us. That is why I had 4 bags with us (2 large carry on size and 2 smaller ones).
