Do you get dirty looks ? Platinum

I am close to being platinum but truly this isn't a big deal in my view. I would not send my laundry out on a seven day cruise nor would I ever get in front of someone who is waiting to change their dining time. It's a nice perk for those that would do this though, sending out the laundry. I think it is incredibly rude and just because one is guaranteed seating, it doesn't mean you can jump ahead to get it. When you get to the head of the line, ask for your time and if adjustments need to be made, well that's Carnival's issue, not yours, but wait your time like everybody else. I'm surprised at the number of people who seem to want to lord this over everybody as if it is something truly special or prized, being platinum, no biggie and this isn't being said because I'm not platinum.

If you don't like the idea why don't you give me your past cruises... I need 2 more on Carnival and would be pleased to have that status. lol

This will be our first Platinum cruise. There are 10 of us in 5 cabins. We are driving to port. I was wondering if we could go to the purser and get the same color tags as the rest of my family so we can get off together. I will us Platinum status getting on but wanted to get off together.

Your room steward will have extra tags on their cart, I'm sure they'd gladly give you the color you want to match the rest of your group. Are you staying on the ship longer to avoid the crazy mess getting off the ship?

I'm going to take advantage of the Platinum perks!

I've seen (in Galveston) a separate line for "VIP/Platinum" and wasn't sure before what the Platinum part meant. Didn't realize it until coming onto this board even though I have sailed CCL for several years and knew there was "some kind" of perks for loyalty.

I am especially looking forward to the laundry service, so I don't have to pack so much! Embarkation, too! We were 3.5 hours from airport to our room last year on the Conquest.

I'm halfway there............woo-hoo:D

I believe he is wanting the other 8 people to get VIP Debarkation with him.

No the other way around, I thought it would be easier to get off together rather than trying to hunt everybody down.

On another thread I read that Platinum debark meets at 7:30am. I don't want to get up that early to get off the ship. When I asked experienced Platinum cruisers, I was told I could get off at my leisure.

So....I guess the answer is to just wait with your friends/family and get off the ship when their deck is called.

The more I think about it, I don't care if I get dirty looks... I've earned Platinum, so I've earned the benefits. And especially being a single cruiser on all of them, the higher stateroom cost's, I've REALLY EARNED it!

So in my never to be humble opinion, it's carnival's responsibility to explain why certain peeps get certain perks.

Why would anyone NOTICE whether some stranger is looking at them as they walk by - unless they look around hoping others notice (or making sure they DO)?  When I'm somewhere fun like a cruise - even checking in - no one else matters to me but us and the fun we're having. You could be on stilts with your hair on fire and I wouldn't notice OR care! And how would a person get a "dirty stare" just for having a platinum card? Who would SEE it unless you're waving it around - again hoping others notice that there's something "special" about you? So just carry on and do your thing - who cares who notices or what kind of "look" they may give?

I do not do any of the things you suggest and yet I have NOTICED others making snide remarks etc. Just because I am on a cruise and having fun does not make be oblivious to what is going on around me. I won’t attempt to speak for others on the issue regarding “who cares” as to what is going on around me, because if you don’t understand why not being unmindful and oblivious to the actions of others and ones surrounding is important, well, I think you deserve the ramifications of such.

Some people live life in a fog, others do not. Although I enjoy a bit of fog from time to time, I choose not to live in such.

I just booked my fifth Carnival cruise and I cannot find anywhere on their website a link for past cruisers to see what their level is. I have a book and there is no phone number there for past cruisers either. Does anyone know the website or link that would show the perks for each level?

As a platinum card holder, what I love the most is the free wash and fold. Carnival treats their platinum members very well. When they see your platinum card, they are even friendlier, if that is possible!! :)

browneyes7;)

I agree I think the staff is even friendlier when they see the platinum.. we have ALWAYS ALWAYS had great service.. but I've seen improvement since Platinum.

CMH, the only perk you get after the first cruise is the past guest party. When you board your 10th cruise that is when the perks start coming. You get goodies delivered to your cabin, wash and fold laundry for free, free slot or blackjack tournament, priority tendering, which is great, they escort you to the front of the line. There are other things I am forgeting. It is really nice to be platinum, the staff really does treat you great. They have always treated me great, but it seems ever better. May just be my perception.

Not complaining, but do these 25% off etc. apply to what you paid your TA or what the "rack price" is, which is always inflated way out of proportion, especially for the "newbies"?

I'm only 9 away from this new designation then ! ! :D

we are taking our 9th cruise on the Valor on 11\30\08 and have booked a Cat. 11 suite. I know we get VIP boarding but is there any other perks like the Platinum. One more cruise until we are there.

As I see it, Arkie . . . only VIP boarding because you're cat 11 and past guest party because you're a past guest. :)

(there'll be a huge jump of perks on your next cruise, however) :D

My guess is it's % of what was paid.

I'm not there yet so I haven't been able to take advantage.

I know fellow CCer, LHP, has used it. Hopefully she'll chime in with the facts.

Nope. For Cat 11/12, you get priority VIP checkin and boarding. That's it. The Platinum perks are a reward for loyalty (like airline frequent flyer perks) and can only be received on the 10th cruise. It's not based upon the category cabin you buy.

Yes, that is what it was when I used it on the Legend....as best as I can figure.

25% of the cruise portion of your individual ticket

Just another tip:

Our youngest son will be getting his Milestone Rewards level soon and we are going to use it on the Freedom in November. The PVP moved our son's name to the 1st or 2nd position (INSTEAD OF THE 3RD PERSON) to make sure we got the most bang for the buck. I had not even thought about that~!!!~

To clarify then, please

Is this MILESTONE AWARD a ONE TIME reduction in your cruise fare or does it apply to all cruises you take until you reach the next level of deduction ?

In other words:

25% off cruise fare 25th cruise

25% off cruise fare 26th cruise

and on and on

Then 50% off on 50th cruise

and 50% off on 51st cruise

and on and on

I know, I know . . . what I'm thinking would be JUST TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE ! ! :D

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
