Casino Credit Charges

The 3% charge mentioned by the previous poster is correct. I f you go to the casino and buy chips with your cruise card there will be a 3% charge. However, there is a better way.

You can buy casino chips from Celebrity before you sail. There is no surcharge for this and most people don't know that they can purchase chips in advance. We have done this before each of our cruises and it has been a completely painless process. You make the advanced purchase through Celebrity and when you arrive in your cabin there will be a voucher waiting for you. All you then have to do is take the voucher to the casino and sign for the chips. The only drawback which is a small one is that you must take delivery of all the advanced purchase chips at that time. You can of course convert any or all of the chips back into cash at any time. What we do is keep the chips and lock them in our cabin safe.

We have never experienced a problem with this method of buying casino chips. Hope this is helpful and everyone havea great day out there.

How do you buy the chips in advance please? Via the website or do you have to call Celebrity?

Thanks

Pat

You can purchase chips on the website - look at the Gifts link. The casino credit certificate is Item # C170, and is available in increments of $25.00.

Of course, the purchase can be made by calling them, too.

I was on Summit in April 07 and took $5K off my ship account without any surcharges. Yes they did advertise that they would charge you but if you add it to your ship board account it slides through instead of a cash advance at the cage window. No I didn't gamble it BTW (I work for casinos) I did however take it home pay off the charge and get the miles for the $5K charge....

I can't say for sure that things haven't changed, but there it is. Good luck.

The policy changed in April, I believe, of this year. Now if you get cash from the casino and charge it to your shipboard account, there is a 3% charge.

That's why they've instituted this fee.
