Can you not get dinner from the MDR served in room anymore during dinnertime? I know that used to be a thing.

Yet Another Shorex/Amenities Flash Sale Starting Tomorrow
SusieV replied to mahdnc's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I'm surprised that our Christmas/NY sailing is now showing flash sale for dining and excursions.Dec 21 Infinity. -
Is it sad that the room service menu reminded me of the way it used to be back in the early 2000s when every cabin got that? And now you have to be in an upper suite to get complimentary hot breakfast or afternoon/evening snacks and meals.

I generally get about 8% of the cost of the trip in OBC. I found one TA and stick with them for years.

It's true but I've tended to find I get poorer service in the MDR because of my age (sommeliers tend to come to my table last) unless on the first day I show them I am familiar with wine and order something expensive. It sucks, but it's human nature to assume the younger people have less budget/no taste in wine and they prioritize based on who they think will generate the most revenue, so there it is. I started cruising Celebrity in my early 20s and it's always been a thing. So if I ask for something decent, especially something not immediately listed by the glass on the MDR menu, they tend to pay more attention to me for the rest of the trip.
-
I'm hoping as we get closer to the holidays maybe people onboard can post the best wines for value that are in the MDR on the premium package or maybe just a bit above? Things we might not know to ask for!

Where did the option to upgrade your drink package go?
SusieV replied to MrsKC08's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Mine has been missing for a while too and we cruise at Christmas. I figure I'll just call around Black Friday and see if there is a reduced price. -
One is curious- did they credit back the amount you paid or the amount of the certificate?

Cabin mate needs to cancel - what happens then?
SusieV replied to Florida_cruisers's topic in Celebrity Cruises
As long as the full cabin is paid off, they don't care. If you tell them she's not coming they will refund taxes and port fees. -
Is Mer Soleil still available by the glass with the premium package? I know before they were able to break some more expensive bottles down if you were going to drink it by the glass but I don't know if they're still doing that?
-
Oh really? That sucks. They aren't even part of the celebration packages anymore? I always loved ordering a bouquet of flowers for my room.
-
You can usually pre order them and have them waiting in your room.

Thoughts on Silhouette if in a standard cabin?
SusieV replied to TGfromTX's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Silhouette is by far my favourite ship. It has the Lawn Club Grill, all the main specialty restaurants, the Porch, and doesn't feel as crowded as the Reflection which had those extra cabins added. I can't afford a suite so I won't sail E class but I like S class, and Silhouette most of all. -
They'll probably be very similar although possibly different wines. Rather than pay for it twice, if you have a drink package I'd just do your own wine tasting at the buffet 🙂
-
If you haven't done it before, it's fun. You'll get 4-6 small glasses of wine and an individual tray of different flavours of things to eat and will get to see how the different wines affect the flavour. It's guided by a sommelier.

You can buy it partway but not that late in the cruise.

You won't be able to board with your husband if you're with the B2B group. Even if you disembark, it will be as a group and you'll be ushered through customs before boarding is open to anyone else. He can join you when he boards normally.

It's per stateroom, not per person. So anyone in your stateroom can use it. As long as at least one person from the cabin is in the photo, it's included. Also includes minor children in a different cabin.
-
If your son is a minor and traveling in a different stateroom, it's allowed.
-
Thank you for that clarification. Should I be looking for a hotel near the airport or in Reykjavik? Any recommendations for hotel and transportation?
-
It's per cabin, but they will include minor children staying in a different cabin. So as long as one of you is in the photo it's included.

On the way home from my cruise we have a stopover in Iceland for two nights. I didn't realize that we fly into Keflavik and not Reykjavik. Is it better to book a hotel by the airport, or to transport to Reykjavik and stay there? Any recommendations in a reasonable budget? I'm having a hard time searching and figuring out the logistics. There are four of us and we'd need two rooms. We also want to do some sightseeing so unsure what location is better in terms of being able to book tours. My son is hoping to visit the ice caves (we will be there in early January).

Thank you!!

Thank you. I'll have a look at that!
