Bringing this back up...any info or tips about the Majesty would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Look for Radio's thread, Live from the Majesty, which details his sail to Bermuda in June. He blogged every day and posted lots of photos. There's also a link to where he's posted menus and copies of the ship's dailies. He's THE source!

We've been on Majesty twice - in 2005 to the Caribbean and this May to Bermuda.

She's in fine shape, and has a good crew. You will fine the same NCL service on this ship.

There are no balcony cabins, and this ship was not designed for Freestyle dining, so you have to be flexible in your expectations.

Both of our cruises have been wonderful and I hope to squeeze in one more before she is sent off to Europe.

Thanks for the Majesty info! Do you recommend eating in the main dining room or the buffets?

We have never tried Freestyle dining, so this will be a new experience. Did you ever have a very long wait time for dinner?

Thanks again!

P.S. I LOVE reading Radio's thread! I did read all of his blog, but just wanted someone else's opinion of the ship. I think he sails again in September - can't wait!!

We love her. Coka wrote a great review on her too. Look for it on the main page. We've only eaten in the main dining room and Pasta Cafe. We thought the food was really good in both. Pasta Cafe requires resies. I've heard Le Bistro is worth the $15pp charge.

If you love to lounge on the lido deck on sea days, you're in luck. They offer fun things to do, but it's not like a Carnival cruise with a ton of activities.

Regular cabins come in two sizes. I recommend a superior OV because you'll get a fridge too. The small cabins are dinky, but doable. We've stayed in both.

It's an intimate ship and the service cannot be beat.

A.

I wrote a review a couple of weeks ago that was pretty candid about what we loved and what we didn't like. We thought the food was as good as any we've had on any cruise ship EXCEPT the buffet, which was mediocre. The outside stations near the pool had great cooked-to-order food, however, and the dining rooms were great.

We only had to wait once more than a few minutes for a table. That was around 7; the other times we ate around 6:30.

We really liked the cruise director and the entertainment. If you're up to it, definitely do the Pub Crawl--it was a blast! The cruise director did a couple of afternoon lectures on old ocean liners that were surprisingly interesting.

And of course Bermuda is terrific! Get bus/ferry passes to get around--they're really inexpensive and easy to use, and they'll take you just about anywhere you want to go.

Just got off the Majesty yesterday. We booked this ship because of the itinerary. Wanted to spend a few days in the same place instead of a new port each day. We love Bermuda and were happy with our decision. The Majesty is an older ship, so you need to go with an open mind. She shows her wear in spots but is still comfortable. We were able to find lounge chairs on deck 10 each day, but sometimes had trouble finding a table outside, around the pool for lunch. People seemed to grab them early and never leave. These were also the only shady areas if that's what your looking for.

The food was OK, some meals were very good, others were not. Our biggest disappointment was the first lobster dinner. They served a lobster tail the size of my thumb with a piece of grouper. Not what we expected. The service in the dining rooms was very slow, so be flexible with your plans. We missed a few shows because of this. We aren't big complainers and usually go with the flow, but I have to say some things on this ship can be improved upon. At the 24 hour grill in the back of the ship there usually was a big line waiting for food to come off the grill. My husband tried to get a late night pizza snack a few times but there was never any ready. You had to be lucky enough to be there when one came out of the oven. It was gone in seconds. He finally gave up even trying.

Our cabin was comfortable. Plenty of storage space. Bathroom was small but adequate. Stewards kept it clean with clean towels all the time.

We loved the comic and the magician. Played Bingo and went to the casino, but mostly relaxed in the sun. We enjoyed Bermuda. Bought the two day transportation pass which gets you unlimited rides on the buses and ferries for $20.00. Well worth it.

We are able to make the most out of any situation and were happy with our decision to sail the Majesty. Others who are more fussy or used to the newer, bigger ships might not be so pleased. We have sailed NCL and Princess, but my husband loves the freestyle dining so he would choose NCL over other cruise lines because of that. We took advantage of their cruise rewards program so we will be sailing with them again in the next couple of years.
