Spending money in Split Croatia

Recommended Posts

We will be stopping in Split on an Italy cruise in a couple of weeks. All other stops we will be able to use euros. Does anyone know if you can use euros in Split or will we need to get local currency before we go or on board?

Help would be much appreciated.

In privately-owned shops they will most likely accept Euros and Dollars (I remember getting ice-cream in a cafe where prices were posted in Kuna and Euro). In government-run stores they will only accept the official currency.

There is an ATM machine in the port building where I got 50 kuna which was enough for coffee, ice-cream and some post-cards. When returning to the ship, we spend the leftover change in the small grocery store in the terminal building on couple of bottles of water and local beer (very good).

We tipped our tour guide in $$.
