Wind Spirit Review: Athens to Istanbul

Hi MarleneAm,

Thanks for your review. We took our first Windstar cruise in May - the reverse of your route - Istanbul to Athens. I was surprised to see Bodrum as one of your port stops; at the time we cruised, Windstar was substituting Didim for Bodrum. When we asked about the substitution, we were told it was because Bodum had built a new pier and required ships to dock instead of tender. Was this a tender port for your cruise or did the ship put into the pier?

In Bodrum the ship put into the new pier which is about 2 miles from the center of town. I was on an excursion so we went on a bus. At the end of the excursion which was on a gulet and wonderful, we took a tender back to the ship. If you wanted to walk to the ship, the guide said it would have taken about 45 minutes from the gulet port area. It was very

hot and we were going to Kusadasi next, so we all happily took the tender.
