cigloo Posted September 11, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2008 Hello all. We just recieved notice that we cleared a waitlist from category VF to SS on our upcoming Alaska cruise next week and we are not sure if it's worth the money? The price increase is $1360.00 to move up. There are 2 adults and 1 child. I can see that the stateroom is much bigger - but is it really worth that? Thanks for the suggestions, help :) Jennifer
sail7seas Posted September 11, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2008 Yes, it is worth it IMO. Take it and enjoy. :)
RedmondCruiser Posted September 11, 2008 #3 Share Posted September 11, 2008 It is a larger cabin and thats always good for three people. I looked at an Ossterdam sailing for 9/13 and the price difference was $1292 (based on two people) I don't think that your getting any great deal. cigloo Posted September 11, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted September 11, 2008 Thanks for the info. Do I tell my them that I would rather have a gaurantee instead or is that even too late? If we take the upgrade - I may miss out on the massages :o What to do???
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 11, 2008 #5 Share Posted September 11, 2008 That seems like a steep price for a 7 day cruise! What massages -- you have to pay for them no matter what category you are in -- they are not free for anyone. And it is way too late to change to guarantee and hope for a free upgrade. You have to do that when you book the cruise.
Hoyaheel Posted September 12, 2008 #6 Share Posted September 12, 2008 What massages -- you have to pay for them no matter what category you are in -- they are not free for anyone. I think the question is to spend $1300 to upgrade to an SS cabin OR to pay for spa treatments like massages. That's always our dilemma, anyway:p
jtl513 Posted September 12, 2008 #7 Share Posted September 12, 2008 How old is the child? If a teenager or more, I'd say the extra space would be worth it, but for younger I'd say that the VF would be adequate. Also - how much time do you tend to spend in your cabin? If it's just a place to sleep/shower/change (like us) then it might not be worth the extra cost.

A teen is more likely to be out and about with other teens and gone a lot more. A smaller child will be with parents more and if you spend a lot of time in the room is might get cramped.
