Cannes to Monaco?

Recommended Posts

Hi, We were at Cannes in 2005 on the Carnival Liberty and took the ship tour to Nice and Ezze, wonderful trip(except that the tour guide took us to a flea market at Nice),but Ezze is beautiful. We are returning on the Norweign Gem and want to see Monaco. I was wondering if someone can give me some info of how to catch the train from Cannes to Monaco. The ship leaves at 3Pm so maybe it's not enough time to enjoy Monaco. You tender at Cannes and by the time you get of the ship there not be time.

Be one of the first ones off your ship (tender port for most) At the top of the stairs is a small both with tourist information. Check in there and get a map, sometimes they have train schedules there. It is a short less that a 1 k walk to the train station. You can check the train scheule and see if it is within you time limits. It is about an hour or less ride. At the train station in Monaco go out the lower level. Catch the local bus they run often. Go the the last stop--check with the driver and see the palace. On the bus again to casino --it doesn't open until noon. Men need a jacket and there is an entrance fee of 10 euros. Within an hour and half you can be on the train again for the ride back. Give yourself enough time though. Again, check the schedule. I think that they run about every 30 minutes. If you deciede that this is to short of time to do... Take a train along the coast either direction. It is most enjoyable.
