China Port Calls

Does anyone have recent experience at Shanghai, Xigang or Dalian as regards landing documentation? Will Chinese immigration allow boarding cards and photo ID as sufficient proof, or, do they require a regular visa in your passport?

Do not make the mistake that one couple made. They thought they could get on board and purchase the visa, and when they tried to board the ship to start the cruise, they were denied boarding because they didn't have the Chinese visa in their passport. You absolutely need the Chinese visa stamp, and a mulitple entry one for that matter, before you leave for the cruise.
