eandj Posted September 16, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2008 Anybody have suggestions for a lightweight hair dryer? The ones I face in hotels and ships just make me carry my own. But it's so heavy due to the power and setting variety. Any kind out there that is lighter than normal, but is strong enough to dry and style your hair in a reasonable time? Rob & Beckys mom Posted September 16, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2008 Conair Ceramic folding dryer I found at Target. It's very powerful (1875 watts) and has several settings & is not heavy at all. Less than $20, good luck! Jan

Willie T Posted September 17, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 17, 2008 I got a babliss in May, and love it. It's Ionic and super light weight. You'll probably have to go where you can buy professional hair products, or have your stylist try for you. Or check online. $20.
BroadwayGirl Posted September 17, 2008 #5 Share Posted September 17, 2008 I use a Babyliss at home but bought the folding Conair ceramic at WalMart for my cruise. I was very pleased with it. It's not my good hair dryer..but it certainly did the job alot quicker than the terrible ones I find in hotels.
eandj Posted September 17, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted September 17, 2008 Thanks for the two ideas. I'll try finding the Conair and take it for a "test drive." I like the folding idea.
Happy ks Posted September 17, 2008 #7 Share Posted September 17, 2008 Ask your hair stylist, there are professional hair dryers that come in travel sizes. They may cost a little more than the Target kind, but the one I have I even use it at home sometimes, it's just as powerful as my regular one. Give them a little time, many hairstylists go to the supply store once a week, or bi-weekly.
Gathina Posted September 17, 2008 #8 Share Posted September 17, 2008 I actually have a very small, folding one that I bought at a travel store, it's the size of an eye glass case, folds flat, and has 1200 watts.
satchiesmom Posted September 17, 2008 #9 Share Posted September 17, 2008 I also have a Babyliss that I traviel with. It looks like a teeny tiny regular hair dryer, I got it at my salon for $20. I'ts very powerful, dries my short bob in just a few minutes. I have a travel flat iron made by them also. It was $20 and is, again, a teeny tiny one that looks like a shrunken down regular size one. You can goole babyliss and find sites that sell these, or check with local salons.
MetalPrincess8 Posted September 19, 2008 #10 Share Posted September 19, 2008 Just a tip with those travel hairdryers.... If you have really long hair, I would recommend looking for a smaller regular hairdryer for traveling instead of the teeny tiny travel ones. My hair is really long and in my experience, when using the teeny tiny travel hairdryers, the opposite side of the hairdryer will suck in my hair and burn it, not to mention it hurts pulling it out of the hairdryer. Be careful not to get the opposite side of the hairdryer too close to your hair!! OUCH! :D

Are the hairdryers in the drawers strong enough for medium length hair? Sailing on the Maasdam. Thanks and Cheers!
cb at sea Posted October 6, 2008 #12 Share Posted October 6, 2008 The hair dryers get hot enough--that's not the problem--it's that they don't BLOW hard enough! My regular hairdryer doesn't weigh much--I just stuff the "nose" of it into one of my hubby's shoes, to take up less space!
