GmaPajama Posted September 17, 2008 #3 Share Posted September 17, 2008 This is the first I've read of any "improvements" to the Ocean Bar, so thanks for the link.
sail7seas Posted September 17, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 17, 2008 I have read that news release before but it is vague re: Ocean Bar and I'm not sure how much change they are planning for Ocean Bar. Do they mean they are enlarging the dance floor? That would not make sense. If they are adding the number of guests, they certainly should not be decreasing the seating capacity but I'm sure they aren't. The bit about learn new dance moves makes me question though. ctsally Posted September 17, 2008 #5 Share Posted September 17, 2008 I would like to see the deck plan for these changes. I know there'll be a piano, but will the Piano Bar remain intact?
sail7seas Posted September 17, 2008 #6 Share Posted September 17, 2008 No, I don't think the Piano Bar will remain the way we know it.
cf_chuck Posted September 18, 2008 Author #7 Share Posted September 18, 2008 I would like to see the deck plan for these changes. I know there'll be a piano, but will the Piano Bar remain intact? Doesn't look like it. From one of the reports I've stumbled across: "The Casino and Piano bars will be reconfigured into a multi-themed area called Mix with three separate bars—Martinis, Champagne and Spirits & Ales. Next door, the high-energy casino will be redesigned highlighting the always trendy table and slot games. The main show space will be transformed into the Showroom at Sea with the ambiance of a glamorous nightclub." http://www.cruisebusiness.com/news.php?u=20080831002930 As we know (hopefully), these things are subject to change. MightyQuinn Posted September 19, 2008 #11 Share Posted September 19, 2008 Has anyone heard of the drydock schedule for the other ships? We're thinking of booking Ryndam or Maasdam sometime next year. In addition to the major retrofits recently announced by press release, HAL has posted a maintenance schedule on their website. The light blue "under construction" timeframes are drydocks for 08/09. http://www.hollandamerica.com/find-cruise-vacation/DestinationCalendar.action
