If you want 100 shares of Carnival stock

I just bought my first stock ever- 100 shares of CCL at around $19 a share. I'm prepared to ride this wave and hopefully come out ahead-even if it takes a few years.

Now I just have to get my documentation and figure out how to get OBC for my cruise in April.

It will be fun watching the market, even though I know it may continue to slide.

I'll just keep thinking positive thoughts.:)

A great price. When it climbs back to the $30 I paid you will have a heafty $1100 profit and I will be back to even. With most things I was quick to jump. I should of waited about 4 weeks.

It's scary in the current market but I'm looking in the long term. Hopefully everyone who bought at the higher prices will get back their investments plus more. Found the email addresses and sent in copies of docs a little while ago. :D

I just bought stocks in Carnival for the first time and I am excited about the Shipboard credit. But need lots of help on what I do next.

Where do I send the confirmation to? Two places? PLease tell me both addresses. Do I send anything else but the confirmation of the buy?

If I'm taking two cruises in Feb. (not back to back); can I get OBC on both? Do I have to submit confirmation and whatever else for every cruise? When should I do this if cruising in Feb?

How do I know it's been applied? Do I need to tell my TA?

I picked up 100 RCL yesterday at $8.75 --- thinking I did fairly well... Looks like I'll have to hold onto it for awhile, as it closed today at $6.92.

 

At least my $875 investment will return $200 for my cruise tomorrow, and $50 more for next month. So, in theory at least, I could sell now and still come out ahead. I think I'll just stay on the ride for this one - along with my $26 something CCL stock.

Am I Missing something? I always get OBC so why would anyone buy OBC if it's not combineable with other OBC? Do you get the highest amount?(that means ; if my TA gives me $50. but CCL gives me $100 because of owing stocks, can I take the higher amount?

You can get your OBC for each cruise you sail on. You will need to send in separate requests for each cruise. You can get the OBC on any of the cruiselines owned by Carnival, e.g., Princess, Holland America.

 

Each cruiseline will have its own address that you need to send the OBC request. For Carnival you send it to the following:

Any OBC provided by your travel agent is in addition to the OBC provided by Carnival. Only if Carnival is offering OBC in a promotion will you run into an issue of duplicate OBC from the shareholder benefit.

Ahhh - yes, I was aware of that when I booked. Fortunately I got in under the wire on that one - with our 10 day being a "comped" cruise and our 4 day already having a $50 credit for booking while onboard previously.

 

I don't have any plans - currently - to sail on another RCL ship. At least I picked up some "cheap" stock, and $250 OBC !!!

I will say one thing about getting the Shareholder's OBC (RCL vs. CCL):

 

CCL has always been very quick to process/apply the credit.

 

RCL --- actually GETTING the credit is like PULLING TEETH... and I mean teeth with long, brittle, and curved roots (I should know - LOL)...

 

First I was told that the credit would not be applied until during my 10 day sailing (on 11/21/08) because the "guy that handles that" was on the Solstice (their new ship). Then about 6 days into the sailing I received an e-mail that the credit had been applied. Well, it never showed on my onboard account - a couple of trips to the purser (showing them the e-mails), and a couple of their attempts at contacting the person who sent me the e-mail (not "the guy", but a woman) yielded the result: "she is on vacation now"... :rolleyes: "but she will likely just apply the credit to the credit card used to secure the account"....

Never heard of it, but I don't know everything...I would fax it in just like instructions have been posted in this thread to the appropriate department. Your PVP is not part of that department and may not be qualified to make that statement. On the other hand if you hear from the appropriate department that you can't use it, you can ask them why and hopefully report back to us here!

Our TA notified Carnival on Wednesday, October 29th and we sailed on November 1st. Our OBC notification was in our suite that evening. The TA just FAXED the documentation and it was taken care of.

Not sure what the promotional rates are that don't qualify. Military or TA rates maybe? Those are usually highly reduced.

 

I'm new to this stockholder thing, but two days after faxing my info the OBC was showing on my docs. I was a little worried since I already had $100 OBC for using one of the future cruise certificates and we booked at the past guest rate/upgrade. Now I'm showing a total of $200 OBC. If we make it to the fuel charge being refunded I'll have a whole lot to use up onboard!

There should be no reason you can't get the shareholder credit. You don't even have to mail it. Just send an email to Kim at

I just booked a quick cruise for Jan 12. I sent her an email on Monday night and I checked my documents tonight and the $50 OBC is there :)

 

$50 is enough to make it worth it. Just be sure to give cruise ship, booking number, names, date you sail and attach a copy of your statement for proof of ownership. Kim is great to deal with. I wouldn't mention that you were told you couldn't use it for this cruise. BTW we also got a military discount.

A senior rate is a published rate, and I don't believe that would disqualify a shareholder benefit.

Have never used the Senior discount but have gotten the shareholders credit when I've booked with the military rate and past guest rate. Believe Senior rate would be the same.

Yes, we book at military rates also and recieve shareholder OBC as well.
