Anyone know who is Conquest's Chief Purser?

Some of you know we had a piece of luggage take a swim into Galveston Bay on the morning of debarkation on December 30.

The chief purser at that time was Phil Holmes. Does anyone know if he is still there and if he will be there when we sail again on January 11?

Mr. Holmes is the poor soul who had to tell us our bag (and originally the thought was 2 bags) had taken the swan drive into the water. He was extremely nice, concerned and helpful and l he made the entire morning easier for us with his having his second purser escort us off the ship and through customs to retrieve the suitcase. His write up of the incident to Guest Relations was also helpful.

Although I wrote him a thank you note and bragged to Carnival about him at the time, I would like to tell him thanks in person if he will still be on Conquest in January.

They usually work 6-9 month contracts. If he was good at his job, they usually offer them a position on the newest ship coming out. You can post on one of the rollcalls fixing to go on the ship, and someone can inquire for you.

When I went on the Elation in Jan 06 out of Galvestion, they knocked an entire cage of luggage into the water. Was not a pretty sight seeing all the luggage bobbing in the water and praying it is not yours.

Had this been the Port of Miami... I would have thought this occured because you forgot to TIP the Porter... and he purposely dropped your luggage into the water...
LOL

No, that wasn't it.

One side of the luggage cage came open while in motion on the fork lift. I think it was extremely lucky that only so little luggage was involved. Only the 2 pieces and only one of them went all the way to the bottom. A net caught the other one.
