lovethekeys Posted October 7, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 7, 2008 :D We are booked on the Voyager of the Seas in March and I was wondering if they have a Sushi Bar? We have cruised many times on another line and are used to our 4pm Sushi. Any chance we can continue the tradition and if so, what time is it usually open? MarinerGroom Posted October 7, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 7, 2008 I can't speak specifically for Voyager, but the other ships seem to offer sushi in the Windjammer, and it's usually not very good.
39august Posted October 7, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 7, 2008 So called "sushi" may be in the Windjammer at dinner. Usually it opens at 6 or 6:30 PM.
mgmigs Posted October 7, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 7, 2008 if you like sushi, you probably will detest the sushi served in the windjammer. they really should quit wasting their time and money on this dish.
J & G Posted October 7, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 7, 2008 The closest thing we saw to sushi on Voyager was smoked salmon  ! I didn't see any sushi. I would have been right there with you if it had been available!
Snoozeman Posted October 8, 2008 #6 Share Posted October 8, 2008 They had it in the Windjammer on the Voyager last January and March. Maybe they will again. Note previous warnings though.
MarinerGroom Posted October 8, 2008 #7 Share Posted October 8, 2008 I really don't understand how good, fresh fish can't be found on a cruise ship. Even just some basic tuna/salmon nigiri would go a long way for me.
sambao21 Posted October 8, 2008 #8 Share Posted October 8, 2008 what about the Jade restaurant? Do they serve sushi or good asian food?
MarinerGroom Posted October 8, 2008 #9 Share Posted October 8, 2008 what about the Jade restaurant? Do they serve sushi or good asian food? Jade is where this "sushi" is found, in the Windjammer. I didn't try the asian food, so I can't say how good it is.

There must be something I don't know (actually, there are LOTS of things I don't know :o )....why would a cruise ship have fresh fish any more than any place else? Specifically, tuna and salmon on a ship that cruises the Caribbean for almost half the year?
MarinerGroom Posted October 9, 2008 #11 Share Posted October 9, 2008 There must be something I don't know (actually, there are LOTS of things I don't know :o )....why would a cruise ship have fresh fish any more than any place else? Specifically, tuna and salmon on a ship that cruises the Caribbean for almost half the year? Well that's my issue.. why does a cruise ship have fresh fish LESS than everywhere else? I can get sushi in central Texas and I can get sushi in Nashville.. why can I not get sushi on a boat? if you can manage to get sushi in Florida, why can they not load sushi-grade fish on the boat while in port? amunhbuu Posted October 9, 2008 #12 Share Posted October 9, 2008 The "sushi" they served in Jade was your basic California roll. I had some sushi on the Carnival Fantasy.. once was enough for me. Good sushi is something to die for. Bad sushi... well... ;) I can eat bad pizza, burgers, whatever... bad fish? That is another story.
lovethekeys Posted October 9, 2008 Author #13 Share Posted October 9, 2008 Thanx everyone, looks like we might need to start a new tradition at 4pm. Hum, what to do at 4pm? To early for dinner, too late for lunch. Ice Cream!
mgmigs Posted October 9, 2008 #14 Share Posted October 9, 2008 Thanx everyone, looks like we might need to start a new tradition at 4pm. Hum, what to do at 4pm? To early for dinner, too late for lunch. Ice Cream! you can always go to cafe promenade for a snack and people watching or at that time there are snacks, like a faux "afternoon tea" in the windjammer. they have build your own taco and nacho station, yummy warm scones and usualy some sort of warm bread pudding with vanilla sauce or warm apple crumble type thing as well as other things like burgers, dogs and fries.
