stalco Posted October 17, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2008 There will be a group of six of us on the Ruby Princess in December going to Grand Cayman. On other cruises we have prebooked private tours with people so there was no hassle when we reach port and we can do as we wish. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do that at Grand Cayman. Sometimes we just get off the ship and hire a cab for the day. Has anyone done this before? Thanks for the advance info.
leaveitallbehind Posted October 17, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 17, 2008 We've rented a car through Avis (via their website) for about $65 inclusive and are driving the island ourselves in December. We've been to GC several times previoulsy, done ship tours, independent tours, but this will be our first car rental there. Very easy and friendly island for that type of exploring. We've done car rentals in St.Maarten, Curacao, St. Lucia, and Aruba in the past with great success. Most locations will offer vans or other vehicles that will accomadate your group size, or you can follow each other in two cars. (Gone with local cabs and privately hired "guides" on other islands). If you are a little adventurous and like to keep to your own schedule, this is a great way to see the sights. Most tour activities sponsored through the ship are also available directly and often at a lowered cost. Enjoy!
