B2B Port Canaveral

Hi

We have been told that we will have to get off Freadom of the Seas when we dock then get back on for the second cruise. I noticed somewhere on here that this depends on the port. Does anyone know if this is the case at Port Canaveral or will we be able to remain on board. We are from Scotland I am not sure if non US cruisers are treated differently.

Thanks for any help on this

Friends of our from Southampton, did a B2B on the Mariner this year, they had to get off the ship, turn around and walk straight back on, took about 20 minutes. Hopefully you will be the same

Hi: We just got off a B2B in L.A., so our experience won't help you. But for the record, we did not have to get off.

But I wonder if you would mind sharing the dates of your cruise (and itineraries). After our first B2B, that's the only kind of cruising I want to do from now on, I'm afraid. But it is not easy (at least for me) to find them. Thanks.

I can't answer for RCCLs practice, but I did a B2B on Carnival from Port Canaveral, and the last night of the first cruise I received a letter in my cabin instructing me to come to the purser's desk about 9:30am. After all debarking passengers are off the ship, they walked me off, through customs, back to the check-in desk where I got my new card, then back onto the ship. I had the ship to myself until others started boarding (which wasn't long). EM

1. You will get a letter on the next to last night of the first leg, telling you what to do. If you don't, be sure to go to the purser's desk and inquire.

2. Can't speak to non- US citizens, but on our Mariner B2B in Canaveral, we were told that it all depends on your previous port. For us, it was St. Thomas, a U.S. port. We had cleared customs there, so we did not even get off the ship in Canaveral. If it had been Cozumel (for example), we would have been escorted off the ship, cleared customs, and then right back on the ship.

Make sure you check with guest relations...they will lead you in the right direction!

Have fun- B2B is the way to go...

Hiya ScotFi

we just done a B2B in the same cabin on the Mariner at Port Canaveral in July.......

we got a letter in our stateroom the night before, telling us to meet in the Champagne Bar on deck 4 at 9:30am... of course 2 families decided to come along when they felt like it, so we sat there till nearly 10:30 till they turned up....... we were then escorted off the ship, had our seapass cards beeped out, waited around in the terminal building for about 1 hour till the crew were off, then taken back on and beeped in our new seapass cards "just" before the new boarders began to embark, all in all it was pretty painless, I had just hoped we could have done it quicker,

We did a 2B at Canaveral (on Mariner). We met about 10 am in a bar with the other B2Bers and then when wew were all accounted for we were walked off, throug customs and then back on. Took about 30 mins as there was a delay looking for a guest that was lost. We were boarding as the crew were still leaving.

Oh, I'm begging! Please give me the details about these B2B trips (future and past) so I can begin a search. Thanks. (I like going out of Port Canaveral.)

To the OP, in Port Canaveral we were walked off the ship into the terminal, through Customs and back on board in about 20 minutes. As you just go steps into the terminal, it doesn't feel like you are actually leaving the ship at all and you don't have to take anything but your documents with you. We wore our bathing suits underneath so we could go straight to the sun deck.

As for searching for B2Bs, I don't think RCI has anything like that. We just pick a ship and stay onboard in the same cabin for two weeks. It's nice if the itinerary is different from week to week as it was when we were on the Mariner out of PC. In February we'll be doing the same route for both weeks but we'll be on a cruise and don't really care where it goes as we'll be out of the snow. We did think briefly of changing ships and doing one week on each to get another route but that seemed like too much trouble. You get lazy on a cruise.

Oh yes........ you get very lazy on a B2B....... we were lucky enough to pick the right dates for a weeks western followed by a weeks eastern, and it was FAB, having all the ports to visit.

the only downside we found was having the same emtertainment for 2 weeks, as we had already seen all the acts on previous cruises !, but all in all it was a good holiday, and right now, I wish I was right back there........

Love doing 7nt B2B. We have cruised Mariner 6 times out of Pt. Canaveral and the longest the off/on took was 30 minutes. Did B2B's out of Ft. Lauderdale and took about the same time to meet, get escorted off and on to the ship. It was very painless.

As for entertainment; we see all the speciality acts and productions shows the first week then visit the entertainment in the pubs and schooner bar on the second week.

We always try to pick different ports of call for each week.

And we didn't even have that problem. We had family with us for the first portion and always ate in the dining room. That way, the program was too late for us "early birds" and we didn't go. The second portion, when it was just DH and myself, we ate in Windjammer and enjoyed the first program before bed. Best of the best. (There were some changes in the talent.)

Thanks to you and others for your responses. Definitely going to look into another B2B. IT IS THE WAY TO GO! I can't tell you how much we loved it. Didn't know the brochure had some help along this line, because I was planning to write a suggestion to RCCL to market this more aggressively.

I can't get too excited about a short cruise any more.
