what are guaranteed rooms?

Recommended Posts

A "guarantee room" means you are guaranteed to get at least what you booked, but could get lucky and be upgraded.

Example - if you booked a balcony guarantee, you will get no less than a balcony (can't be put in an oceanview or inside), but you have to be willing to accept the cabin they assign you -- could be front of ship, back, any deck that has a balcony. Or, you could get lucky and get a suite.

Guarantees are for people willing to chance their cabin type and location. Can be a great deal for saving money, if you don't care where your cabin is located - It will be assigned at some time before your sailing (usually).

hope that helps.

Hi,

On some sailings the cruise company will encourage customers by offering a particular class of cabin at a lower price eg: balcony, inside, suite. You are not able to chose the room you get, it will be assigned by them at a later stage. If you don't mind where on the ship you travel in that category then this is an ideal way of travelling at a discounted rate. :)

They use to call these "Run of the Ship"

On embarkation you would meet in a predesignated area and they would hand you a sheet of unassigned cabins.

Then they would blow the whistle.

Folks with younger, faster kids would have them sprint to the "better" available cabins to claim them.

Be sure to wear your running shoes! :)
