Don't all the ships sound the emergency signal during life boat drill?

 

Seven short and one long are always sounded on ship's horn on HAL during drill.

 

It becomes habit to count them and that is the point.

It means this ( 1 toot of the horn for each word ).

 

GET (1)

 

THE (2)

 

HECK ( insert whatever word that starts with an F that you like :D ) (3)

 

OFF (4)

 

THE (5)

 

SHIP (6)

 

RIGHT (7)

 

NOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! ( the long blast )

 

Hope this helps. Just something that I thought up during the MUSTARD:p Drill. Yeah yeah I know its MUSTER.

There are lots of signals ships make with their horns to communicate with other ships. Seven is the most I am familiar with, but I do not know when it became a standard emergency signal.

Seven is unlikely to be confused with any of the other (1-5) short blasts.
