rubybc62 Posted November 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2008 How long does it take for luggage to arrive in the cabin? I plan to check in around noon.
deckedout Posted November 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 8, 2008 Hi, We were on the Jewel last April. We checked in about 11:30 and 2 of our 4 bags were outside our room door by 3:30. The othe 2 came a little bit later, while we were unpacking the first two actually. They do not put the bags in your room, but place them in the hallway outside your door. The Jewel is great and we had a lot of fun on our 9 day cruise. This year we have to settle for a 7 day because they aren't offering the 9 day the week we're off. Have fun!:)

98Charlie Posted November 8, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 8, 2008 Luggage arrival in most cases is a luck-of-the-draw thing. Even with you arriving earlier than many of the other passengers your bags will still be put on a dunnage cart with others. When the cart is full it will be moved by fork lift to the ship where it's unloaded and piled up in the ship. From there it's sorted and taken to the cabins. So, it's not like a conveyor belt where there is "first in, first out". If it's on the top of one dunnage cart it would be on the bottom of the pile when it's tossed (yes, tossed) on the ship. If another cart arrives before they get to the bottom of the pile yours may still be there with more luggage on top of it. Best guess though is that you'll have it before or shortly after sailaway. Just my 2¢ Charlie
uppitycats Posted November 8, 2008 #5 Share Posted November 8, 2008 Yes, Charlie got it about right. We got on the ship around 1 p.m.... One piece of luggage was outside our door around 3, the other arrived about a half-hour later. (We had checked in at the port MUCH earlier, but embarkation was delayed as they were sanitizing the ship...)
newmexicoNita Posted November 8, 2008 #6 Share Posted November 8, 2008 pretty much what others have said, luck of the draw. I don't think we have ever gotten ours after dinner. Usually within 3 hours of boarding it has arrived.. Nita
