Segway Tour of Antigua

I just returned from Antigua - a stop on the carnival victory

I pre-booked the Segway tour and Joe came to meet us at the pier when we docked. He helped us into a taxi to their office - he beat us there on the Segway. We were driven to the where the tour would begin - We did CONQUERERS of the FORT and LOVED it.

We spent time learning to ride the Segways - practiced on an obstacle like course and took off. We had Joe in front leading and Kadesh in the rear. We rode on all kinds of terrain and the frosting on the cake was when we took the Segways onto 2 beaches - the 2nd one was where EVERYONE from our ship was hanging out and they all stared in wonder at us on the beach on our Segways. We ended at the Fort where we toured before returning to the training area. We went up to a bar/restaurant for a drink and conversation before we were returned to the ship.

Joe and Kadesh are ideal guides and hosts. We felt safe the entire time and had a blast.

We are looking forward to our next trip to Antigua and another tour with Joe and Kadesh.

Don't miss out on this great opportunity.

We are still talking about this experience 3 weeks later

My travel friend is recuperating from scheduled back surgery after we got home and is still talking about this

Can't wait to go back

Have fun!!

Deb

Can You tell me how you rent a segway...is it just a tour thing?? Can you rent one like a car...how much?? Do you have to worry about someone stealing it while bathing??

Any help would be appreciated!@!

The segway tour is guided - we had two guides - Kadesh and Joe.

They never left us alone and monitored our safety by advising of cars coming along.

They can't be stolen as they use a key type system - also when you are off them, nobody else is around

I look forward to my next trip back to Antigua to do this again

Hi

Also did the tour. We didn't book in advance. I read about the tour times and took a chance I would see Joe on pier. I did find the tour at the pier by the information booth. They did had room so we when along. Only 1 other couple was going. Your taxi as extra. We were also taken to the office. Had training. Practiced and then made our way to the tour area. Had a fun tour while riding the segway. Stopped at fort and did the beach. When done stopped at the beach/bar cooled off in the water. Had a drink and talked. I did lose my balance once and did hurt myself. (and my pride) but would do it in a heart beat. Once on it's segway and moving it great. My husband loved it and wants to buy one. Would highly recommend it. Had alot of FUN. Also got some great photos while on tour. If you do it Tell Joe and Kadash I said Hello from Pat & Don. DId tour Friday May 8th.

We just returned from our cruise a few days ago. I read about his tour here and contacted the company (see link on an earlier post above). We had a fantastic day. Kadesh met us at the pier along with Juliette, who put us in a taxi. This is all spelled out on their site along with prices. I emailed with some questions, which were answered promptly. We were the only two who booked our tour and really enjoyed our time with Kadesh and Juliette. We have never done this before, but it was very easy to do with the instruction and practice time we were given. We went to the fort and also rode on the beach. After the tour, we sat in the seaside restaurant and enjoyed a wonderful lunch with Kadesh and Juliette. I have always wanted to try a Segway and this was the perfect place to do it. We had a fabulous day and will do it again the next time we are on Antigua.

The taxi was $12, which the tour people pay for and add to your charges. I don't remember the name of the beach club. We were there for at least an hour and a half - sort of lost track of time. Go the the Segway site and send an email to Juliette with any questions. She will be very helpful and answer any questions you have. BTW, we received by email a very nice video of our tour - very cool.

My wife and i like adventure tours as we have been to many of the islands and seen the sights. We found out about the segway tour on cc and decided to give it a try. We met julliette at the pier and she could not have been nicer. They took us to runaway beach where we met the rest of our group and took the conquerers of the forts tour. We went up different terains, got great views of a number of beaches and even had segway races on the beach!!!

When the tour was over they had a nice little place on the beach where they gave you a free drink. We then got to spend an hour at the beach which was nice and private.

When we got home they sent us a cool video of our tour. I would highly recomend this tour to everyone. It is not physically demanding and one of the best tours we have ever done!

I ditto your review of this tour. They are awesome people. It was just my husband and myself with Kedesh, Patrick and Juliette. I lost my glasses while on the tour and they have been very helpful in trying to find them. Great people.

Hopefully you can check out our video http://www.segwayantigua.com/downloads/2009-06-25-TheStovers_0001.wmv

Thanks for sharing your video. It looks like fun.

How fit do you have to be? Does it require great balance?

I am not fit and do not have great balance. I'm 64 and overweight. But I caught on quickly and had a ball. So glad we decided to do it. Give it a try. You won't regret it. Kadesh and Juliette are the best.

Hi

.

I was getting excited until I read you lost your balance. First, I'm sorry you got hurt, but now I'm afraid of this happening to me. I lose my balance quite a bit (I don't fall over and stuff) because of a chronic condition. And because of this chronic condition I thought I would get around much better on one of these and not having to walk so much.

Heads I try it and tails I don't? ACK!

Have a go!! We have done Segway tours all over the world (best one so far in Wellington, NZ). If you can stand up, you can ride a Segway. The worst bit is the first 15 seconds or so when you get on. Your brain naturally assumes the Segway must topple over and it takes a few seconds for it to work out that you are still right way up! Its great fun. Ask the guide to take the limiter off so you can go flat out!!

Returned last week from our Carnival Freedom cruise and wanted to let everyone know that the Segway tour with Segwayantigua.com was one of the highligts of our cruise.

My advice is to book early. They only have 10 Segways available for each session.

Juliette's organization is truly professional and we had a blast. I am 66 and had no trouble at all riding one. We booked the 2 1/2 hour Conquerors of the Fort tour and ended up back on the beach where we started our tour. You are escorted the whole time. We had three guides with us.

We were picked up at the dock by van and transported to the Segway office where we signed all the necessary paperwork and were then taken to Miller's Beach where we were given instructions on how to ride the Segways, given helmets and elbow protectors. After a few minutes, we were off and riding. What fun. For groups of four or more they send you a video of your ride.

I would recommend it highly to everyone.

I did this tour in November and can highly recommend it.

They ran through an orientation and made sure that we were comfortable and in control before we went out on the road. They were very safety conscious but to to the point that they removed the fun factor. The tour itself was great and we got to zoom around the fort and along the beach with the girls giving us details of what we were seeing.

Once the tour was over, we had lunch at a beach restaurant with Julliette asking how she could improve the tour and it was nice to be able to provide feedback in this way.

If you are going to Antigua, I would suggest you seriously consider this tour.

Question -- I have chronic lower back pain... did you find your back hurt from driving these Segways? Did any of your muscles hurt afterwards?
