rob22 Posted November 14, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2008 With the price of oil the lowest it has been in two years, before even the thought of surcharges.... It is time that the fuel surcharges be refunded, we will be sailing on the azamara quest 12/16 out of singapore. Hopefully celebrity/azamara will refund or issue a shipboard credit for the amount of the surcharge. Rob & nancy
lovecruzin Posted November 15, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 15, 2008 I was surprised when we booked our 16 day Panama Canal that they didn't at least have a maximum, the $15/day adds up. Sure would be nice if they did something.

lovecruzin Posted November 15, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 15, 2008 There was an earlier thread on this topic. You can read it here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=864759 I have read the thread, my point was that both RCCL and X have a maximum for their fuel surcharge, Azamara is $5 more per person with no limit. That adds a big chunk to the total bill.
Tinwoman Posted November 15, 2008 #5 Share Posted November 15, 2008 It seems to depend on when you booked. For all bookings created on or after November 10, 2008, for sailings commencing in 2008 or 2009, for first and second guests in a stateroom, the fuel supplement will be $15 (U.S.D./CAN.) per-person, per-day. Additional guests in a stateroom will not be charged a fuel supplement. For sailings commencing in 2010 and booked on or after November 10, 2008, no fuel supplement charges apply. For all bookings created between June 30, 2008 and November 9, 2008, for first and second guests in a stateroom, the fuel supplement will be $15 (U.S.D./CAN.) per-person, per-day. Additional guests in a stateroom will not be charged a fuel supplement. For all bookings created between May 1, 2008 and June 29, 2008, for first and second guests in a stateroom, the fuel supplement will be $8 (U.S.D./CAN.) per-person, per-day, and no more than $112 (U.S.D./CAN.) per-person, per-cruise. Additional guests in a stateroom will be charged $3 (U.S.D./CAN.) per-person, per day, and no more than $42 (U.S.D./CAN.) per-person, per-cruise. For all bookings created between November 16, 2007, and April 30, 2008, for first and second guests in a stateroom, the fuel supplement will be $5 (U.S.D./CAN.) per-person, per-day, and no more than $70 (U.S.D./CAN.) per-person, per-cruise. Additional guests in a stateroom will not be charged a fuel supplement. Who knows what kind of logic they use.
CO cruiser Posted November 15, 2008 #6 Share Posted November 15, 2008 Shirley, I felt that the fuel charge should be removed also. We booked in February 2008. So I emailed AZ and stated my concerns about the charge. Nope. Gotta pay the $15.00 without any maximum. Marge
