darchibald Posted November 5, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 5, 2004 Hello, I was born in Florida many moons ago and moved to California at age 6 and have been here ever since. I have been in California for 32 years now. I know about the heat and humidity in Florida, but what should I expect when getting off of the plane or should I say, leaving the airport? Will we be sweating like a stuck pig? Bring losts of t-shirts and shorts for our cruise on Majesty, November 15? Thanks.

shipknotshore Posted November 6, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 6, 2004 David - We're practically neighbors - we live in Modesto. I'll be waiting to read a review of your cruise when you get back. Have a great time - kick back, relax, and enjoy the sun. Lord knows around here we don't get a whole lot of that in the winter - the "blanket" is pretty thick for a couple of months. dougp26364 Posted November 6, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 6, 2004 We've made FL a vacation spot for the last few years in late November and early December. Yes it is humid but the temps tend to be tolerable and there is generally a nice breeze. With the breeze and the humidity, it makes if feel a little cooler IMO. No, I don't think you'll be sweating like a stuck pig but you will notice the difference when you step off the plane. I can't speak for Miami's airport but Fort Lauderdale and West Palm's airports don't keep it cool enough inside. With no air movement it gets a little to warm and humid in the terminal IMO. darchibald Posted November 6, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted November 6, 2004 Hello Dave & Jill, Yes, we are practically neighbors. I am assuming that the weather is the same in Modesto and it is here in Merced. Just went shopping tonight for shorts and shirts and found some great deals. The only thing left to purchase is a tie and belt. We are looking forward to our first cruise and think it will be fun. I do however hate the preparation because I know that we will forget something. Let me know how your cruise was and I will do the same with ours. Hope you have a wonderful time. :)
ducklite Posted November 6, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 6, 2004 By mid-November, much of the heat and humidity have greatly dissapated. Yes, it's still humid and warm, but you wont be "sweating like a pig" unless you are overdressed. It will probably be in the high 70's or low 80's with moderate humidity. Not the mid-90's with 100% humidity of the summer months. Dress in layers for the plane so you can be in a short sleeved top when you leave the plane and you'll be quite comfortable. pinkrosesdeb Posted November 6, 2004 #9 Share Posted November 6, 2004 Don't know about the 15th but it is cool and dry here in Fla. this morning. Absolutely beautiful. Humidity is low and the sun is shining. Supposed to last at least thru the week.
