What not to miss on the Jewel

Apologies if some of these have already been mentioned:

Deck 7 (outside) - a great place to get away from the crowds and relax on the rail, which is relatively close to the waterline. Especially nice in the evenings.

We loved deck 7 on the Dawn. There were a few loungers and if you were lucky enough to grab one on a sea day, it was the perfect quiet space to read in the shade (I can't spend too much time in the sun).

Are there loungers on the Jewel deck 7 as well?

No loungers, as I recall, but some nice chairs and benches are placed sporadically around the deck.

As for Chin Chin's excellent Tappenyaki Room, with all due respect to a previous poster, I wasn't suggesting that they use a hibachi grill to cook. It's "hibachi style" cooking, a North American term for Japanese teppanyaki cooking, in which gas-heated hotplates are integrated into tables around which many people (often multiple parties) can sit and eat at once. The chef performs the cooking in front of the diners, typically with theatrical flair -- flipping shrimp tails into his hat, for example, or lighting a volcano of onions on fire with his fingers. The popular Japanese restaurant chain Benihana uses hibachi grill cooking as its trademark.

I want to know why people love the Jewel.

What do you look foward to while on the ship? What would be the one thing that is not to be missed?

What was your favorite meal, drink, dessert, activity, show, or restaurant?

Where is your favorite place to be on the ship? Why?

No Negatives, Please....

We are booked for next years repositioning, and we are so excited about the intinerary, now I want to get just as excited about the Jewel.

I will probably just be repeating what others have said cause I haven't read the responses, (I will in a minute or so)

Favorite bar: the casino bar and the small one upstairs, but I can't remember the name of it..Best dessert, always Fondue in Le Bistro: favorite restaurant, for me it will always be Le Bistro and Blue Lagoon for that wonderful snack. Hubby prefers Cagney's. Some other favorite foods: always cold soups, souflees, and eggs benedict. I happen to really love the surf and more surf with pasta, some think it is a let down..Also love the English loin (I really think it is just London Broil) but it sure is great...

As for favorite place, the Spinnakers lounge, why? too many reasons to list: love the casion as well (of course I love most casinos) One other thing that just tickles me is the hall carpet with the fish. You always know what direction you are going cause the fist swim forward..(I guess it doesn't take much to excite me these days) LOL

Are you doing the Nothern Transatlantic? If so, it is probably the best itinerary there is, at least in MHO.

We are just off the Jewel this past Friday.......our favorites were the Blue Lagoon for breakfast AND lunch. Not a big menu, but it was all good!!!!! Favorite evening pasttime.....sitting at the Great Outdoors Bar (Aft ship on level 12). Its an outside bar.....we enjoyed just sitting there in the evenings, usually after we had just seen a show in the Theatre. We really enjoyed the bartender, can't remember her first name and her assistant, Christian....they were GREAT!!! We were lucky enough last week to have a full moon that we enjoyed coming up over Cozumel.

So you can go to the Great Outdoors bar area without having to order food?

As far as I could tell, it was pretty much just the vague equivalent of outdoor seating for the buffet area. An extension. :D We would get stuff at the buffet, and go sit out there, instead, weather-permitting.

The dark area in the back right is another buffet station (the rest are inside). I think this one is 24 hours, though, unlike the other buffet area... someone correct me if I am wrong.

Edit: Ha! I didn't notice until right now that the brim of my husband's hat, part of his sunglasses, his nose, and some of his shirt is visible on the left edge... guess who's getting cropped out of the scrapbook! ;)

I guess you could say we miss most everything. In Cagney's, there is a waiter named Mr. Sameer Sawant, who is excellent. Charming personality, say Al and Donna said high. The Hotel Director, Mr Julian Brackenbury, will be seen at your CC meet and greet, and wandering the ship every evening, stopping at all of the restaurants.

Chin Chins...tell the maître d'that a friend who was on in December said he is always running out of the ribs...bet you will get a double order lol.

If you are in a suite, the suites only coctail party under the stars in the courtyard. Ask your concierge for the date so you don't plan diner during it.

Most definitely. The bar is in the back of the pictures. See bartender in white uniform. Our MOST FAVORITE place to hang out and have drinks in the evening!!

I think you mean front right, and no it is not a 24 hour buffet. But, you did capture my tiles & murals, thanks very much!!
