Smoking on Dawn Princess

Does anyone know what areas are smoke free on Dawn Princess??

Not many areas by the sounds of it. Cruise answer book says no smoking in dining rooms / food serving areas, show lounges, casino, and theaters. Smoking in cabins by consent of all occupants only (so that's a big YES), and 'nor is it permissible in designated areas as outlined in the Princess Patter newsletter.' Guess we'll have to wait and see what that means, but it sounds like there will be designated NON-smoking areas rather than the other way around. So smokey bars and stinking clothes it is. :(

Will be interested to hear what people with first-hand experience have to say...

I have just called as I am severely allergic to cigarette smoke and am booked on a long cruise....

I was told ten minutes ago...."there is no smoking on any enclosed areas of the ship including cabins..this is a new rule for Australia. There will be some designated smoking areas in the open deck areas." I would imagine that passengers can still smoke on their balcony.

I take this to mean that bars etc will be smoke free as well as the cabins and most of the public areas of the ship.:p

I have to say that I have previously cruised with Princess under the old rules and even for me I cant say that I felt any ill effects, I think you used to be allowed to smoke in the casino.

Dont want to start another smoking/non smoking rant. Just relaying the information I was given directly from Princess Australia.

So either way I think it will be OK if you want to smoke there will be places you can and if you dont there will be a majority of places where it is not allowed.

Nah, last non-smoking rant thread I was involved in Was locked down real quick. But we are way less confrontational on the P&O board - we know we are likely to meet one another on a ship someday!! :p

Great news about the "new rule for Australia". :) GREAT NEWS!! :):) When does that apply from??

(Smokers with the same versions of the brochures that I have may have a bit of a whinge when they get aboard though!)

A couple of months ago!!

Ah, this has made my day!! I can live with smoke, but my wife would just bitch and moan. Woohoo, a happy wife makes for a happy life!! :) (I'm sure there's a famous quote I should be acknowledging about now...)

Thx Geoff!

Think I was involved in the last discussion too:D....yes we are a bit more laid back over here. Discussions over there often seem to get heated don't they.

But the new rules for Australia do represent a reasonable compromise which should not greatly inconvenience anybody...we all want to enjoy our cruise.
