4-night Century dining attire order?

Hi everyone, I did a search but didn't find my answer. Searched Celebrity's web site, even phoned Celebrity and they could not give me a definitive answer. Anyway, we are booked on the 4-night, Thursday - Sunday Century cruise, Miami/Key West/Cozumel/Miami. Can anyone post the list of dining room attire per each night? I am thinking the first night is casual, 2nd night semi-formal; 3rd night is casual, 4th night is formal -- is that correct, in that order?

 

The person I spoke to at the Celebrity 800# said "usually" the last night is Formal Night but he was unsure.

 

Anyone know?

SAME CRUISE? I too am sailing on the Century 4 day same itinerary....we are going Feb 5-9th. I have been on other boards asking about clothing, i.e. what is accepted.

Sounds to me that one night Hubby has to have a jacket....the other times,,,a nice shirt,,pants, etc. is ok. Girls are much more open.....will be interesting to see what responses you have.

I too found Celebrity hard to get answers out of.

I have been on the Century 5 nighters several times as well as many other cruises, and almost universally the second night out is your formal night. Especially since you leave Key West early afternoon. The final night is almost never, never, a formal night as that is when you are expected to put your luggage out for collection before you even go to dinner.

 

And while I will always dress in a tux for formal nights on a 7 night or longer cruise, I don't even bother taking a jacket at all on these shorties.

Celebrity no longer has semi formal--it's "smart casual and above" every night that's not formal. Your formal night will be either the 2nd or 3rd. Never the last night. If the celebrity rep said the last night, he is ridiculously misinformed and has no right to be answering the phones!

 

Smart casual is defined as pants or skirt "complemented" by blouse or sweater for women, pants with no rips holes or tears for men with a shirt with sleeves. Most men wear khakis and a golf or hawaiian type shirt.

Well, what I have read so far on this thread totally contradicts what was on another thread under fashion/clothing, etc.

I was really NOT wanting to bring a jacket for my hubby for the supposedly one formal night,,,is it called the captains dinner or VIP something as we are staying in a Sky Suite??

Really, what is the scoop, My husband has a nice pair of pants and if he wore a nice short sleeved silky type shirt with a tie,,,is that not enough??

 

Ours is a 4 night cruise,,,Key West,,Cozumel,,etc. Feb 5-9. I would really not want to be turned away from a lobster or steak meal just because huuby does not have a jacket with him. It was made very clear on another thread that it was a must!!

 

Just how strict are these rules,,,,,like you said,,,especially on a 4 nighter.

I just hope we are "able" to follow all the "rules" cause there seems to be quite a few with Celebrity!!!!:(

Formal night are rarely (if ever) on the first and last nights of cruises. On the first night many people's luggage isn't delivered to their stateroom on time. On the last night many people have already packed up prior to dinner. The formal night would be one of the middle nights (most likely which ever one that the ship leaves earliest from port).

 

The dress code for formal night does require a jacket for men (the following is from their website):

Formal

 

Ladies: Cocktail dress, gown or dressy pantsuit

 

Gentlemen: Tuxedo, suit or dinner jacket with slacks

 

Sometimes people do not abide by the dress code and often they are still permitted in the dining room and other venues (on formal night on Celebrity the formal dress code also applies to the theater, casino, lounges etc. in the evening). If you are skipping the jacket, I would at least go with a long sleeved shirt as it is a bit dressier and also would be warmer (the main dining room is air conditioned and it may be chilly with only a short sleeved shirt).

Formal means formal. There is no interpretation of formal that does not include a jacket. Very few people won't comply.

I am also on the February 5-9 Century cruise and had the same question. So knowing that sometimes you get folks who aren't on top of things ;) I called 3 different times figuring I would go with the answer I received the most. All three times the customer service person told me that the reason we leave Key West early afternoon is because that is formal night. So that would be the second night out. On the cruise leaving out on the 9th it will be the third night as that one is the at sea day.

I agree. I believe your husband would look and feel out of place with a short sleeve shirt (and tie?) on 'formal' night--which is, actually, what I would term 'dressy.' I think he needs to pack a jacket.

 

There is a widely varying range of opinions on this, but the code is quoted above and it is respectful to fellow passengers to also follow the code. It's really the only 'rule' I can think of on Celebrity, other than the smoking regulations.

 

What I posted earlier about "smart casual" referred to the non-formal nights. You asked about 'casual' and 'semi-formal' and I was merely stating that they no longer have 3 categories (it actually used to be called 'informal') but only two--smart casual (3 nights) and formal (one night).

Hi,:) I went on a 4 nighter on Century last December.

2nd night was formal. Whoever you spoke to was incorrect.

The last evening is always casual.
