Postman1963 Posted November 26, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 26, 2008 My wife and I are planning on a very romantic cruise on the Star in January. We are hoping to take our romance onto the balcony on several occasions. Will we have privacy or should we be more discreet in our romancing? Salsera718 Posted November 26, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 26, 2008 eeww...get a room...oops you got one...use it...besides you don't want to get sunburned in unfamiliar places...lotion can get messy ...oh geez I can go on...but I won't...I repeat...eeww
Arwenmark Posted November 26, 2008 #3 Share Posted November 26, 2008 Well depends on when you are doing this romancing and where on the ship you are located. those side panels are translucent not opaque. and people do peek around them and some locations people above can see onto your balcony. NEW 2 CRUISIN Posted November 26, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 26, 2008 Ummmm....yeah.... Do us all a favor and keep the balcony for drinking coffee and reading books only. That's why they put shade on the balcony doors!

WinnieinWA Posted November 26, 2008 #6 Share Posted November 26, 2008 Please use your balcony for coffee and reading only. What if a kid peeked around the corner? Best stay in the cabin.:p
silkhair1 Posted November 26, 2008 #7 Share Posted November 26, 2008 Yes you can easily see from balcony to balcony. The walls do not go to the edges and there is an opening. It could be done, but what about the noise level????? I would think it would be hilarious if I heard my neighbors on the balcony, but would be appalled if my kids heard and wanted to know what was going on. Have fun and romance is very good! garycarla Posted November 26, 2008 #8 Share Posted November 26, 2008 Maybe I am just... or maybe a romantic, or .... People can not see TOTALLY into the next balcony, unless they lean way out and look back into yours. You have to LEAN out to see more than someone leaning over the rail. And assuming you are smart enough to NOT use the rail for any activities, you will be just fine. Once you are onboard, you will understand and can ignore anyone that says otherwise. More power to you!
Sally Forth Posted November 26, 2008 #9 Share Posted November 26, 2008 No advice for a regular balcony, but for future reference.... corner aft on the Vision class on RCCI. Totally private. Not that I'd try it out or anything, but I could see how some people might. Viv

travelntreats Posted November 26, 2008 #11 Share Posted November 26, 2008 I am sure that anyone montoring the surveillance cameras that can see almost all areas of the ship (including balconies), will happily encourage and probably enjoy your romantic antics out there !

*Wink* Posted November 26, 2008 #13 Share Posted November 26, 2008 Hey.. the kids didn't PAY for their cruise.. Perhaps parents should keep an eye on them and keep them from leaning over a railing. I say "go for it."

travel_mom_1 Posted November 26, 2008 #15 Share Posted November 26, 2008 I'll just say it can get really dark out there at night. I don't think anybody saw us, I mean, will see you if you are cautious.;)
G'ma Posted November 26, 2008 #16 Share Posted November 26, 2008 Another thing to remember are the many, many video surveillance cameras all over the place - including outside the ship looking forward, aft and into certain balcony areas. But, hey, if it doesn't bother you....................:D:D I've actually been entertained a few times by neighbors who truly believe they are in a world all their own......as have those on the balcony above and below them.................:D
sweethrt7985 Posted November 26, 2008 #17 Share Posted November 26, 2008 (edited) Haha I say go for it! If people really want to crane their necks and risk falling overboard to look around the wall.. then more power to them. My boyfriend and I are going on our first cruise, a balcony, and our 3 year anniversary, so I'm thinking the same thing you are. So I say go for it! :D I do want to add that I wouldn't recommend partaking in your activities on the rail... that wouldn't be a very "happy" ending... However, there's a thrill factor involved that doesn't necessarily include the desire for voyeurism. JMHO :) I can hear Bob Eubanks now..
