We're watching it also.

I just read that there is an OPEC meeting scheduled for December 17th. That can't be good.

Here is the info I found:

Date Event Venue Program
17 December 2008 151st (Extraordinary) Meeting of the OPEC Conference Oran, Algeria not available yet
15 March 2009 152nd (Ordinary) Meeting of the OPEC Conference Vienna, Austria not available yet
Noon, Firday, New York City time....

$52.03, down a couple of dollars!

Let us all hope OPEC sabre rattles then nothing happens.
Opec has been blowing there horn for the past few months and the price per barrel continued to decline. Now that we're in a non peak period, demand will continue to be low (assuming winter doesn't spke heating oil). It'll be interesting, but best guess is they need to sell barrels and if they raise the price through production cutbacks it may lead to increased demand reductions which may continue to keep prices in check...oh and as long as there isn't some type of terrorist attack in the world.

Four of us on Mariner in two cabins at the end of Feb. watching and hoping. I am hoping for the OBC because it would pay the standard gratuities. It might mean a spa treatment for my wonderful DH or extra drinks for both of us or I really will get to swim with the dolphins this time.
I have the link as a favorite and keep an eye on it every day. We also booked Oasis in August so we have to wait for a while on that one. Again, it would pay the standard gratuities and would free up a little extra for some special things on that cruise.
I have 3 cabins and we should get enough on our OBC to pay our tips!! ;)
Me too. Me and my friends have 3 hump cabins. Our surcharge was only $56 each though. This thread was a good idea.:)
This will be a fun thread to monitor. There are two of us and an OBC would pay our tips or additional drinks. Either way it will be money we were not planning on.
I just decided something. If I get an OBC, that will be my gambling money! I have never used the casino and will do so for the first time if I get this refund.
I thought I would start a thread for those of us who are anxiously watching the oil price as we get closer to December 18th (our date) and the possiblity of an OBC for our fuel surcharge.

So here goes.

Days until price check: 22

Price of oil at last closing on November 26th: $54.44

Number of people hoping for refund: 25 - feel free to add your group to this number as we go along over the next 22 days.
There are 6 of us travelling on the Liberty of the Seas on January 31. Hopefully, we will get a refund.
We also will be watching and hoping. If it happens, I'm renting a waverunner at Labadee! Always wanted to do it, but never have. Only 65 days to go!!:)
The waverunner was great! Even if we don't get the obc - go for it!
I thought RCCL stated if you do not spend you refund by end of cruise they will issue a refund by check. Did anyone else receive that info? Am cruising 1-23-09 on the Exployer.
If, prior to boarding, you presented a credit card to pay for your Seapass (onboard spending) any unused OBC (credit for fuel surcharge) will automatically be credited to that credit card.

LATEST UPDATE

Days until price check: 19

Price of oil at last closing on November 28th: $54.43

Difference between price and target: $10.57

Required increase per day to NOT get refund: $0.56

OPEC meeting this weekend ends with no change in output - next OPEC meeting is December 17th

Looking fairly good for us to get a OBC...but time will tell.
