alwalaska Posted November 29, 2008 #52 Share Posted November 29, 2008 We're watching it also. I just read that there is an OPEC meeting scheduled for December 17th. That can't be good. Here is the info I found: Date Event Venue Program 17 December 2008 151st (Extraordinary) Meeting of the OPEC Conference Oran, Algeria not available yet 15 March 2009 152nd (Ordinary) Meeting of the OPEC Conference Vienna, Austria not available yet
baabtx Posted November 30, 2008 #53 Share Posted November 30, 2008
Noon, Firday, New York City time.... $52.03, down a couple of dollars! Let us all hope OPEC sabre rattles then nothing happens.
Opec has been blowing there horn for the past few months and the price per barrel continued to decline. Now that we're in a non peak period, demand will continue to be low (assuming winter doesn't spke heating oil). It'll be interesting, but best guess is they need to sell barrels and if they raise the price through production cutbacks it may lead to increased demand reductions which may continue to keep prices in check...oh and as long as there isn't some type of terrorist attack in the world.

DianeMMHH Posted November 30, 2008 #56 Share Posted November 30, 2008 DH and I are hoping to get OBC for the $10 per/day fuel surcharge on a 12-day cruise on 2/1/09. $240 OBC.............WOW!!! That would be fine with us! We are keeping our fingers crossed. Diane & Steve
mainelymaniacs Posted November 30, 2008 #57 Share Posted November 30, 2008 Four of us on Mariner in two cabins at the end of Feb. watching and hoping. I am hoping for the OBC because it would pay the standard gratuities. It might mean a spa treatment for my wonderful DH or extra drinks for both of us or I really will get to swim with the dolphins this time. I have the link as a favorite and keep an eye on it every day. We also booked Oasis in August so we have to wait for a while on that one. Again, it would pay the standard gratuities and would free up a little extra for some special things on that cruise. Lisa

iluvkst Posted November 30, 2008 #62 Share Posted November 30, 2008
This will be a fun thread to monitor. There are two of us and an OBC would pay our tips or additional drinks. Either way it will be money we were not planning on.
I just decided something. If I get an OBC, that will be my gambling money! I have never used the casino and will do so for the first time if I get this refund.
CRUISINGGRANMA Posted November 30, 2008 #63 Share Posted November 30, 2008
I thought I would start a thread for those of us who are anxiously watching the oil price as we get closer to December 18th (our date) and the possiblity of an OBC for our fuel surcharge.
