Boytjie Posted December 4, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 4, 2008 Just saw this on the HAL website: MIAMI (December 4, 2008) - As fuel prices continue to decline, Carnival Corporation & plc (NYSE/LSE: CCL; NYSE: CUK) has announced that it will suspend fuel supplements for its six North American brands effective for all voyages departing on or after December 17, 2008. The fuel supplement suspension applies to the following brands: Carnival Cruise Lines, Costa Cruises, Cunard Line, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises and The Yachts of Seabourn. A refund of the fuel supplement will be made in the form of a shipboard credit for all bookings within the final payment period for departures on or after December 17, 2008. All bookings outside of the final payment period for departures on or after December 17, 2008 will be adjusted to remove the fuel supplement and guests will be provided with a revised final payment amount. SeaMatesNYC Posted December 4, 2008 #9 Share Posted December 4, 2008 Suggest we each place some more in the "red bucket" on the street (or collection plate, or food bank, etc.) since this is "found" money, IMHO.

casavaha Posted December 4, 2008 #11 Share Posted December 4, 2008 For those of us sailing on the 17 of Dec., I think we should thank HAL. They did not have to do it for us. They got alot of flack before so a thank you is in order. Greg
norcal2 Posted December 4, 2008 #12 Share Posted December 4, 2008 One question: If the final bill said "Fuel Supplement $100.00" is that the amount we are talking about? I didn't know if it was listed under another title or if it applied to both of us so I am a little confused as to the amount. I originally thought it was $9 dollars a day for each of us. Comptech Posted December 4, 2008 #13 Share Posted December 4, 2008 Yipppie.... $140.00 bucks for us on our December 21st Christmas - New Years cruise. I guess I can now afford to buy that special bottle of Tequilla... :)

pinksand Posted December 4, 2008 #16 Share Posted December 4, 2008 Well I'm not happy. We sail on 12/13. Its wrong and they should just drop it now.

InTheWASide Posted December 4, 2008 #18 Share Posted December 4, 2008 By celebrating the suspension of the fuel charges! How many bottles of bubbly would that buy? :):D Well, without factoring the 15% it would be 16.6 bottles if you figure 30 each... Or... At least 2-3 of the good stuff :)
cruizn2escape Posted December 4, 2008 #19 Share Posted December 4, 2008 On HAL's site, they do state they will reinstate it if the cost of fuel goes over $70 a barrel. So here's hoping it stays below that amount for all cruisers.

If it goes over 70, Carnival Corp reserves this right...
