quincytoo Posted December 13, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 13, 2008 Great review :) We took the same cruise on the Diamond a few years ago and reading your review has me wanting to try this same cruise on her sister ship :)
Bob Winters Posted December 13, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 13, 2008 Here is the link: http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=49884 Room Service: There is a charge added for each order that pays for all of the people involved with getting you your order. It was $10.50 on our cruise. The Continental Stateroom Breakfast included orange, apple, tomato and prune juice. Fresh fruit, yogurt, cold cereals such as Raisin Bran, Special K, Corn Flakes and Mueslix could also be ordered. There were Danish pastry's, bread rolls, Croissants, preserves and you could order a pot of coffee or a pot of hot water for tea. You just simply fill out the form and what time you would like it to be delivered on the night before. Note: You can write in eggs, cheese eggs, omelets, cheese omelets, bacon, sausage and ham and it will get delivered to your stateroom. Thanks for the great review, we are sailing on January 3rd and I found this very helpful. I do have a question about what I pasted above this response in red. When did this procedure change. I have used room service many times and have never been charged even a dime. My practice was to tip the server for bringing the food but that was it. Can someone shed some light on this for me? Megge2 Posted December 13, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 13, 2008 Just a guess..... $10.50 is the auto-tip that is automatically added to every one's account. Charged whether you use room-service or not.
WehoAtlantis Posted December 13, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted December 13, 2008 I think that is correct. I have been told different things but Princess did add the gratuities of $10.50 per person per day on our stateroom account. It is a Hotel Charge. Sorry for the confusion. Colo Cruiser Posted December 13, 2008 #8 Share Posted December 13, 2008 Thanks Colo, I should have known that is was an auto tip. Mike Think there are a couple of special things through room service (pizza/cheese plate) that have a small charge though. :)
WehoAtlantis Posted December 13, 2008 Author #9 Share Posted December 13, 2008 The pizza did have a delivery fee of $3.00.

luv2travel2beaches Posted December 15, 2008 #13 Share Posted December 15, 2008 I just wanted to clarify so that I can plan some for our upcoming trip. They allowed you to write in cheese omelet and other things on the room service menu? That would be very nice. Thanks so much for the nice review. WehoAtlantis Posted December 16, 2008 Author #14 Share Posted December 16, 2008 Yes they did. I always call room service the first day to find out what else can be ordered and what might cost extra like the whole pizza for example for three dollars. Have a great time, Mike
wizard-of-roz Posted December 17, 2008 #15 Share Posted December 17, 2008 We've done the Diamond several times and the Sapphire and NEVER knew that we could write-in "eggs" on our breakfast room service menu. My DH always has whole wheat toast, in the morning so I did write that in but I never knew I could get a cheese omelet by simply writing it in! We'll be on the Sapphire in April....I'll have to try it! I really loved our experience on the Sapphire even though we had to leave later (due to the fires delaying about 200 travelers to the ship) and our delay in Cabo was glorious (due to tender problems).....the Captain is a true "Mensch!" :)
