Duval Beach

I checked the search but couldn't find anything about Duval Beach and the Duval Beach Club. Is this a good place to go while in Key West? We'll only be there till 2 pm and we were planning on just a walk around and some shopping, but could easily include this too for an early lunch if it's nice.

Sorry, I have not tried it, so I can really comment. Great location though!

Actually this place is no longer Kelly's but is part of the Southernmost Beach Hotel. I haven't been either; but I have heard several comment that it had really improved in both food quality and cleanliness.

It is now called the Southernmost Beach Cafe but is pretty much the same place - an "indoor" section which is open on three sides with a nice view of the small beach. It's at 1405 Duval at the southern end so you could wander down Duval and shop or sight-see, then stop here for lunch.

Yes...the Duval Beach Club is now the Southernmost Beach Cafe. There have been vast improvements to both the food and the atmosphere. I have had some of the best tuna on the island there. They are doing some great specials right now so it is worth stopping for a meal. Plus the ocean view is the best in Key West!!

It's a pretty straightforward "touristy" menu (coconut shrimp, burgers, dolphin) but it is a very pleasant place to sit and enjoy the beach with a frosty cocktail.

Dolphin? No thank you. I plan to swim and play with the dolphins, not eat 'em! Blech! Now the frosty cocktail I will definitely go for........

Not the same bottle nosed dolphin that you are thinking of; but a smaller fish usually known as bull nosed dolphin.

Thanks for the clarification re the dolphins, but still it conjurs up an imagine where I don't want to go there! :D

 

Weird cause I'm just fine with cows, pigs and chickens.....but dolphins? I don't think so. Give me enough of those cocktails though and you just never know...

OK let's cal it Mahi Mahi or Dorado. Same thing. It's a fish, not a mammal.
