kiraryker Posted December 19, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2008 I know what there is for adults to spend $$ on board but I'm trying to figure a budget for the kids: 9,15,19 as far as speding that might come up onboard - what is there for kids to spend $$ on?? (besides soda) Thanks!

Catrin Posted December 19, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Just remember that when you go to shore, that many taxi's charge PER PERSON not per car - it depends on the Island. On the ship, it is not much for kids... Arcade Soda Card Souveniers .. and ... the Specialty Coffee Shop for Chocolate Shakes! Catrin
mrsfuzzmo Posted December 19, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Well, not 100% sure of Carnival, but I know other ships have: Hairbraiding, henna tattoos, cool "logo" and fun shaped souviner cups, gift shop and snack purchases, etc.

My cousin who is ten always has a blast on board. She doesn't go to the kid's club- she likes to stay with the rest of the family. We play bingo together, play trivia together, eat together, listen to music together, etc. Of course, not all kids are like that, but there defininitely are a lot of family activities. onceagain Posted December 19, 2008 #6 Share Posted December 19, 2008 I think previous poster meant "on the ship, it's not much for kids" as far as having to pay for things. Only other thing I can think of is, if your youngest is a girl, she may enjoy making a "build a bear" at Camp Carnival, but it's pretty inexpensive. Shops, arcade, the specialty dessert place (i know that sounds stupid but I can't think what else to call it) and soda. Except for the alcohol the 19 yo is considered an adult, so all of the above apply plus the casino. (I created a monster with my 19 yo he has taken a liking to roulette, and last cruise came home with more than I did from the tables.)

PhoenixDawgCruising Posted December 19, 2008 #9 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Kids...spending on cruises...oh yeah!! My 2 sons, now 4 & 12, are expert cruisers (4 yo has been on 3 cruises, 12 yo maybe 7 or 8). They love spending $$-the 12 year old lives in the arcade, he gets a soda card, and on RCCL ships, the prom. area has everything from Ben & Jerrys ice cream, to video games, to airbrushed tattoos, all that cost money. Then there's the internet bill at the end of the week...RCCL has a package with a certain number of hours for the week, I hope Carnival has the same, because my 12 yo must be plugged into something at all times. The little one is mostly arcade and gift shops. Then there's the photos.... Trust me, your kids will rack up a fine bill if you let them.... NO NO!! :) I think you misunderstood my answer.... when I said there is not MUCH for kids, I meant that there is NOT much EXTRA COST on board! Kids cannot gamble, drink, gamble, drink, gamble, drink... ;) I have three kids and they are going on thier 6th cruise next year... for our family, cruising is the best kind of vacation! BUT>> to the poster that said Pictures.... YES, you are absolutely correct. We bought a couple of pics when it was just me and my husband, but when we bring the kids, we end up getting many more! :) Catrin
ecn81126 Posted December 19, 2008 #12 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Just got back from the Imagination with our three kids, ages 15, 13, and 9. We purchased pop cards for all three kids, and they drank their money's worth! The 15 year old got free "smoothie" type drinks in Club O2. Other than the pop card, my youngest participated in the build-a-bear activity and his puppy cost less than $20. And that was all the money spent by my children on the ship. I gave them each $10 to spend in Cozumel, and all three were able to buy gifts for friends and have change left over!
Rare Tapi Posted December 20, 2008 #13 Share Posted December 20, 2008 Virgin foo foos. Boy, can those add up! They are not only for the kids. We actually enjoyed "Virgin foo foos" quite a bit on our last cruise. And I agree they do add up!
