Are Category 11 Suites worth it?

"Worth it?"

That is really a personal decision. I've stayed in inside, ocean view, Balcony, and Catt 11 suite.

Cat 11 suites on Carnival are 1 1/2 this size of normal cabins. (Cat 12 are 2X the size), so you get a bigger cabin. Of course the balcony is wider also. Nice bar area, nice dressing area, nice makeup area. Larger for hosting a small gathering.

Worth it? Yes and no. Big price jump. Only you know your financial situation and your desire for space and comfort.

If you're a first time cruiser,,,, I'd recommend against. Heck, you may get on the ship and just hate every aspect of cruiseing there is. Cabin wouldn't make a difference. Go with balcony, if you decide to cruise again, celebrate with an upgrade to the suite life.

No one here really knows your financial situation, so we really can't tell you if it's worth it for YOU. Some might find the extra expense not worth it, especially if you're only going to be in the room to sleep, shower and change clothes. Some people who cruise spend a lot of time in their cabins/suites, so putting out the extra money is worth it for them.

I posted this on the Carnival thread, but thought I might get more answers here. Are Category 11 Suites worth the difference in price from a regular Balcony? What makes a Suite so special?

When I was young (and poor) I used to say to myself "every room looks exactly the same, when you turn the lights out at night".

Just buy whatever you like, that you can afford. It's who you share your cabin with that really matters.

Suites pax on other cruiselines get special things, cut flowers, more cruise credits toward being platinum diamond whatever, consierge lounge, daily snacks, whatever. On Carnival they only get VIP embarkation, no biggie. Not worth getting it over a corner 9A wrap for sure.

Im going CC, concierge class on celebrity, which is a higher balcony cabin and even get extras for that and the price isnt that much extra, in line certaintly with a cat 11 balcony. In fact saw a sky suite on celebrity soltice for $1599 this next january 18th. If I was going to pay a higher fare for a suite, I wouldnt do it on Carnival, waste of money just for a little extra space.

We've been in two Cat. 11 Suites on Carnival and I actually like them a lot. I like the room configuration--square on the ships we've been on--better than the long, narrow mini-suites on some other lines. The dressing room and bath are very nice also.

We were lucky to be upgraded to one of the suites for no charge and had a very good price on the other one, so it was worth it for us. It all depends on what you like and can afford.

Due to a price too good to turn down we sailed in our first regular balcony cabin in a while this month. After being in mini-suites for a while it did seem a lot smaller, but we still enjoyed our cruise.
