ocnd Posted December 28, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2008 We are going to be in Domincan Republic in about 3 weeks. From the brochure I read, it says to "wear comfortable clothes and shoes because there are cobblestone streets and anyone who has trouble walking should be aware." I will be in a wheelchair and my husband will be pushing me. Is this trip going to be too difficult? I can get in and out of the wheelchair and walk a bit (going to have back surgery in a few weeks but in the meantime ....) Please advise me. Thanks in advance!!! RichYak Posted December 28, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 28, 2008 I posted some pics here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=17337483&postcount=12 You can see the cobblestones and steps everywhere. I can't recall if there was a path to get to this point. There may have been steps from where the bus drops you off. I just can't remember. Good Luck. ocnd Posted December 28, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted December 28, 2008 Thanks for your reply. The pictures are great. What I am wondering is if you think it's possible to push a wheelchair over the cobblestones or are they just waaaaaaaaay too bumpy? I can manage a few stairs, as long as I'm not on my feet more than a few minutes. Crazy situation. Thanks!
RichYak Posted December 28, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 28, 2008 Is it possible? Sure, I would think so, but probably not all that comfortable. There's also getting on and off the bus to consider. I think, given that you can get around a bit without the chair, you should give it a try. It's a relatively small area to traverse.
