MaraGirl Posted November 13, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 13, 2004 The offical rate between XCD (Easter Caribbean Dollar) and USD is 2.67. ATM machines, in Antigua, do not charge a fee for use. However, my bank (in New York) charged me an international withdrawal fee of $6. USD is widely accepted in Antigua but you will be given your change in XCD and most shops/bars/restaurants will use a rate of 2.6 or 2.7. Travellers checks are accepted as well but they have to be USD. Credit cards are accepted by most bars/restaurants and stores, your card will be charged in XCD. One duty free store where we shopped, listed it prices in USD but charged our card in XCD and the rate applied was 2.75. Lastly, if you are willing, you can always go to the bank and exchange your dollars for XCD. However, if the line is long, you could be there for up to an hour. Hope that helps.
