hotel on beach near miami port?

We are thinking of taking RCCL out of Miami in March. Is there a hotel on the beach not far from the port? Is it within walking distance of restraunts and stuff if we stay 2 days? Also how far from airport? I would rather not get a car for 2 days if we don't need to. We have gone out of Port Canaveral before and stayed on Cocoa Beach and enjoyed that.

Im thinking the nearest beach is south beach, and yes there are certainly places to walk to if you want entertainment or to eat.

 

Most of the places folks stay are near the intercoastal (i.e. no beach). If you know S. FL you know there is a strip of land, with beach on one side and deep water on the other, no beach.

 

You would have to catch a cab from south beach to the port, too far to walk.

Holiday Inn - Port of Miami is 5 minutes from the port and you can see the ships in the morning. There's a mall right across the street that have real nice restaurants. ie; Bubba Gump's.

We want to be able to swim in the ocean and play in waves. Is there a hotel that is there or one if we flew into Ft Lauderdale?
